I think we can all agree that blood-splattered, scream-filled flicks are best enjoyed late at night during the month of October. Terrace Theater, though, believes that not all scares are of the visceral, in-your face variety.

Starting, oh so fittingly, this. Fri. Oct. 13, the Terrace presents a different kind of Halloween film fest, because, "frightful movies come in all forms."

We start the spooky screenings with "the worst movie ever" The Room, playing at 9:30 p.m. this Friday; the film centers on protagonist Johnny, who seemingly has it all, until his gorgeous fiancee Lisa begins to tear him down. BBC has described the film as "not just bad — it's intoxicatingly awful." Grab an extra glass of wine at the concession stand before this one.

Next up is Tobe Hooper's 1974 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the "forerunner of all the great slasher movies," playing Fri. at 11 p.m., and Fri. Oct. 27 at 11:30 p.m. This scary movie reinforces one of the most ubiquitous horror tropes: if you are visiting an old farmhouse and see what might be cannibalistic psychopaths out in the woods, go ahead and back out of the driveway.

We round out the fest with Black Sabbath — The End of the End playing Wed. Oct. 18 at 7:15 and 9:30 p.m., and then two 11:30 p.m. screenings of Terrace classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show Fri. Oct. 27 and Sat. Oct. 28.

The End of the End chronicles the final tour of English metal band Black Sabbath and is the "final word from the greatest metal band of all time." Rocky Horror is a cult classic — sweethearts Tim and Janet discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, weirdness, song, and dance spectaculars ensue. The Terrace uses a live shadow cast to enhance the Rocky Horror screenings, and there are special PBR beer prizes and giveaways both nights.
