Handcrafted America, a production of cable channel INSP, is a 30-minute TV show that features craftsmen and women from around the country. Now in its third season, Handcrafted America, led by host Jill Wagner, introduces audiences to three craftspeople in each episode, from sculptors to welders to potters. And this September Handcrafted America features not one but two Charleston-based artisans, Sean Ahern and Christian Royal. Ahern's episode airs on Fri. Sept. 8 and Royal's airs on Fri. Sept. 15, both at 8:30 p.m.

Ahern is the metalsmith behind North Charleston-based Ahern's Anvil Inc., which creates both commercial and residential metal projects. Learn more about Ahern and his work at ahernsanvil.com.

Royal is a potter based on James Island who uses greenery found in his garden as inspiration for his stoneware. Royal has Down Syndrome and, before he discovered pottery, had trouble with simple words, addition, and time. He has an aptitude, though, for pottery (OK, we're biased, we own some of his gorgeous piece) and has been actively creating it since his first lesson almost a decade ago.
