Park Circle Films has a busy month planned. Kumaré (Sept. 8) tells the story of Sri Kumaré, an enlightened guru from the East who has come to America to spread his teachings only to reveal that he is actually an American filmmaker from New Jersey.

Beauty Is Embarrassing (pictured, Sept. 15) is a documentary that explores the highs and lows of commercial artist Wayne White, while Community Cinema: Half the Sky (Sept. 16) follows Nicholas Kristof and celebrity activists America Ferrera, Diane Lane, Eva Mendes, Meg Ryan, Gabrielle Union, and Olivia Wilde on a journey across the globe to tell the stories of people dealing with oppression.

The Lowcountry Indie Shorts Film Festival is scheduled for Sept. 21-22 at the Terrace Theater and will present local, regional, national, and international shorts.

The month of movies wraps up with The Magic of Belle Isle starring Morgan Freeman, which tells the story of a well-known Western novelist whose alcoholism takes a toll on his passion for writing.

Films are $5 for general admission and $2 for members of the Film Society. All screenings are at The Olde North Charleston Picture House (4820 Jenkins Ave., North Charleston). For more information, go to
