Local poet, spoken-word artist, and all-around Renaissance guy Marcus Amaker is taking a shot at filmmaking. Right now he’s working on a short documentary that will premiere before another doc, Eames: The Architect and the Painter, which is part of the Charleston Film Festival.

Inspired by font doc Helvetica, Amaker has been interviewing local graphic designers and architects — like Will Bullock (Slant Media), Bob Galmarini ({e} house studios) and architect Thomas Sweeney — and getting their take on Charles and Ray Eames, designers of fabulous mid-century furniture and other things.

Amaker is doing everything for the film, including shooting, editing, and making his own music.

Eames (which is presented by J Fletcher Designs) and Amaker’s doc will screen Sun. March 4 at 4 p.m. at the Terrace Theater. Tickets are $10 and available at the Terrace's website.
