Gov. Mark Sanford recently spoke with the Action Institutue a free market with a Judeo-Christian bent. The interview‘s up, and it’s a pretty dry affair. But for folks interested in Sanford, his stance on the stimulus money, and the 2012 presidential race, it’s worth a look.

While Sanford makes a lot of points that are philosophically sound, he fails to get into any specifics about how his rejection of $700 million in stimulus money will affect his state. Instead, Sanford talks about saving the American Republic itself, a noble enough goal. But, you know, if South Carolina goes down the crapper under Sanford’s watch, well, that won’t look too good on his application to the Hall of American Heroes.

And even worse outcome for Sanford in 2012? What happens if Obama’s stimulus plan actually works?
