Joint Chiefs Nominee Open to "Don't Tell" Exit

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Wed, Aug 1, 2007 at 2:47 PM

Adm. Michael Mullen, the nominee to head the Joint Chiefs of Staff, would be happy to see Congress review “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

“I really think it is for the American people to come forward, really through this body, to both debate that policy and make changes, if that’s appropriate. I’d love to have Congress make its own decisions with respect to considering repeal.”

What’s even better was a previous comment from Mullen on the topic.

If it changes, it changes.

Pinch me. What this means is that, with the exit of Pace, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" has lost it's biggest cheerleader while giving the Democratic Congress a big, fat invitation to challenge this thing.
