Candle Light Vigil Sunday

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Tue, Jun 26, 2007 at 12:17 PM

A statewide candle light vigil is planned for Sunday, July 1, at the Statehouse to mourn the death of 20-year-old Sean Kennedy, who was killed in an apparent hate crime in May. The event will include Kennedy’s family, as well as Rep. Seth Whipper (D-Charleston), who has introduced hate crimes legislation. The event Sunday begins at 3:30 p.m. with artist performances, with the speakers beginning at 7 and a keynote address at 8, followed by the vigil.

“South Carolina must join the rest of the country in emphasizing the importance of human life,” says Whipper. “That is what this hate crimes bill is all about.”
