Be on the lookout for these brand new release recommendations from Graveface Records (724 King St.) and Monster Music & Movies (946 Orleans Rd.) over the next two weeks.

Graveface Records

Coven, Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls (Fri. Oct. 26) Satanic/occult LP from 1969. I have an OG copy that I’m too afraid to listen to given its value, so I’m pretty stoked for this reissue.

Skinny Puppy, Cleanse Fold and Manipulate (Fri. Oct. 26) ’87 LP from this goth/industrial project. A personal favorite since childhood. OG copies aren’t terribly expensive but, again, it’s nice to have it back in print finally.

Bauhaus, Mask + In the Flat Field (Fri. Oct. 26) Two of the best records on Earth are back courtesy of Beggars Banquet. I have originals, of course, but it bums me out when we’re listening to them in the shop and can’t sell a copy. Now we can sell a copy. Eee!

Bob Dylan, More Blood, More Tracks, Bootleg Series Vol. 14 (Nov. 2) What is arguably one of Dylan’s best albums and certainly his best ’70s album (Blood on the Tracks) is the subject for the latest Bootleg Series installment. His ’70s albums up to this point were spotty, but this was a return to form. Outtakes and alternate versions are often disappointing but should add to the appreciation of an album like this.

Marianne Faithfull, Negative Capability (Nov. 2) 1979’s Broken English made her a force to be reckoned with, and I’ve eagerly listened to every release since. This one features Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Mark Lanegan, and others, and I have no doubt there will be emotional wreckage to deal with.
