Little Stranger, Johnny Jr., DUMB Doctors, and Ranky Tanky have some new stuff for y'all:

Little Stranger

Little Stranger dropped a new video for their track Girl III off of May 2017 release, Techniques. Filmed by Alex Veazey’s CHOP MEDIA, the video features two chicks portraying the group’s John and Kevin Shields. “Girl III” was debuted last month by Huffington Post, which called the sounds of Little Stranger “lit hip-hop.”

Ranky Tanky

Gullah group Ranky Tanky released a new LP recently, and it quickly rose to No. 13 in iTunes’ Jazz charts, passing Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet’s duets album Cheek to Cheek. Afropop Worldwide calls the self-titled record “without a doubt one of the greatest gifts of the year. An incredible piece of work overflowing with authenticity.”

DUMB Doctors

In true DUMB Doctors style, the band did another surprise EP drop on Oct. 20. Entitled SUX, the four-song collection includes a Beatles-esque-punk track “Dum Dum Daze.” The EP can be had and heard via dumbdoctors.bandcamp.com, and you can check out the Scott Dence-led four-piece live (and free) on Tues. Nov. 14 at Recovery Room. Don’t miss it, as it’s the last DUMB Docs show of the year.

Johnny Jr.

Local hip-hop artist Johnny Jr. dropped his final release of the year, an EP entitled I'll Be Back, meaning he's gonna peace out ’til 2018 but, meanwhile, here's something to sink your teeth into. I'll Be Back is both playful and poignant, from Johnny Jr's real talk on religion ("Religion Freestyle:" "a book can be a tool but it ain't sacred") and race ("In the beginning us blacks were winnin' but right now?/ We the most hated, no debatin', and I'm like, how?/ They killed us off and threw our bodies in a nice pile/ Then tried to tell us to forget it, man, these whites foul") to the fun "Sip 'N Swerve" featuring local emcee Abstract. Hear it all for yourself here or above.
