The Pour House will host a fundraiser this Thurs. June 8 for the victims of the EME Apartments (1815 Central Park Road, James Island) fire from 4-6 p.m.

The Hungry Monks perform on the deck at 6 p.m., but the venue is in search of a couple more acts to donate their time and play during the benefit’s hours.

Owner Alex Harris says the PoHo plans to take funds at the door as well as 20 percent of bar sales from 4 to 6 p.m., to be directly donated to the displaced families. They’ll also accept donations like toilet tissue, shows, deodorant, and soap. Scroll to the end of the post for a full list of items needed.

Murray-LaSaine Elementary School (MLES) has set up a YouCaring account as well, so you can donate directly now.

The fire broke out in a unit on Sat. June 3 at 12:18 p.m. and has displaced 44 people — of those, 14 are adults and 33 are children.

“Three families have children that currently attend Murray-LaSaine; four children have lost their homes and belongings,” MLES said in a press release. “At least eight children attend Fort Johnson Middle School. CCSD officials are working with JI principals to ensure we are supporting these families in any way we can.”

If you wish, you may bring the following donations needed for three specific families to the Pour House Thursday or to the front office of MLES.

Please makes sure any used clothing donations are clean, in good used condition, and without holes or stains. Anything the families are unable to use, MLES will donate to Goodwill.
