Alan Fame brings hip-hop improv to Mt. P

Boom Bap Sessions start tonight

Beginning tonight, Manny Houston, whose stage name is Alan Fame, will bring his live hip-hop improv show Boom Bap Sessions to Mt. Pleasant’s Black Sheep Bar & Grill (713 Coleman Blvd.), and the showcase is set to continue each Thursday evening.

Boom Bap got its start last year at the Palace Hotel downtown, with the live band consisting of Alan Fame on keys, Brandon Brooks on drums, Alex Kellner on bass, and Sheed Staggs on the mic. The same musicians return for tonight's show, which starts at 9 p.m.

Houston is also currently producing Midtown Productions’ I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!, a musical about love. The production will run Thurs. Feb. 18 through Sat. Feb. 27. at Midtown Productions (2816 Azalea Drive). For more info, go to facebook.com/charlestontheater
