Stefanie Santana featured on NPR Tiny Desk blog Saturday

Bob Boilen who?

We’re excited but not surprised to see that Columbia indie-folk musician Stefanie Santana made the NPR Tiny Desk Contest blog over the weekend.

Though the Tiny Desk Contest deadline passed last week and the winner is yet-to-be announced, NPR has taken to Tumblr in the meantime to post their favorite submissions so far, and Santana’s ridiculously creative video for ”Starfish Song (That’s What You Get For Living In A Tidal Pool)” made the cut on Saturday.

Produced by Charleston musician and artist Kevin Hanley, the video begins with a hyperlapsed 20 seconds of Santana and friends building an impressively detailed Tiny Desk Concert backdrop out of construction paper. In the next shot, Punks&Snakes’ Jack Burg answers a phone, claiming he doesn’t know who Bob Boilen is, before Burg imaginatively uses his own windbreaker as percussion for the track. The Specs’ Steve Tirozzi is also featured playing guitar.

Other local artists submitted video entries for the Tiny Desk Contest, including Conor Donohue and Lindsay Holler, Avi Jacob, and Malo Mano. One winner will be chosen on Feb. 12 to head to NPR's headquarters in Washington, D.C. to play the actual Tiny Desk Concert behind Bob Boilen's desk.

In case you missed all the brilliance, check out Santana's submission here:
