Melodic pop-rock band Run Dan Run — led by singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Dan McCurry (pictured) — celebrates the release of a five-song “acoustic EP” titled 27 Coming St. on Saturday, Jan. 24 with an acoustic performance at the City Lights Coffeeshop (141 Market St.).

Run Dan Run made its first splash in town with the release of a cool disc titled Basic Mechanics, an atmospheric and moody studio collection produced with studio engineer/guitarist Ash Hopkins. The new one was recorded in McCurry’s home studio last October with drummer Nick Jenkins and violinist Erin McKinley. “It was recorded live at 27 Coming Street — the former longtime residence of Jump, Little Children,” says the frontman. “The songs were done in one or two takes one Sunday evening when Ash was in town."

"Playing acoustic has been a new venture for us." McCurry adds. "Since Ash left town, the normal rock show wasn't working well and we tried a few different things between Erin, Nick, and myself and found that playing acoustic was the dynamic that works best for us right now."

“We are hand-pressing a limited and numbered run of 200 copies of the EP,” McCurry adds. "They'll be available at shows and online."

Local artist Nathan Durfee did the poster for the album and Megan Elger (M.E.G.S.) did the album art from her hand-cut stamp designs.

RDR will continue a weekly series of shows at City Lights through February. The City Lights gigs start at 8 p.m. There’s no cover charge.
