New York based singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik (a native of Hilton Head now based in Manhattan) announced a concert at the Sottile Theatre (44 George St.) on Fri. Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Sheik sold millions of copies of his 1996 self-titled, Grammy-nominated debut album, thanks to the success of hit single “Barely Breathing.”

Sheik performs with a nine-piece ensemble on the heels of winning a Grammy and two Tony Awards for writing the musical score for the hit Broadway musical Spring Awakening. Sheik collaborated with lyricist Steven Sater and composed the original score. The set list will include original songs from the play’s soundtrack as well as songs from his back catalog and his forthcoming solo album titled Whisper House (due in January).

The Charleston performance will feature original Spring Awakening cast member (and Tenn. native) Lauren Pritchard as well. Tickets are available for $30 ($25 advance) and $15 (with a student I.D.). Visit sottile.cofc.edu for more.
