Lindsay Holler & The Western Polaroids (most of whom were formerly known as the Dirty Kids) perform an intimate show at Redux Contemporary Arts Center this Friday, Oct. 17. Singer/guitarist Holler’s new ensemble features Nick Jenkins on the drums, Ben Wells on the bass, Sam Sfirri on keyboards and percussion, and Bill Carson on guitar … “and everyone singing lots and lots of harmony!”

“Musically, there are fewer notes with more of a cohesive and arranged song structure,” reports Holler. “We’re trying to veer off from the verse-chorus-verse-chorus route to concentrate on tonal textures and creating layers off of those. There’s still gonna be a bit of a country vibe hiding around in there. And I swear Bill has been channeling a little Marc Ribot, in his guitar tone and approach."

The Western Polaroids’ next Charleston gig is at the Holy City Cold Heart Revival on Sat. Nov. 15 at the Pour House. The Redux bill includes Brooklyn band This Frontier Needs Heroes. Showtime is 9 p.m. Admission is five bucks.
