Sol Driven Train's best disc yet

Charleston band Sol Driven Train officially release their new 10-song collection, Lighthouse this Friday, April 4 at the Pour House. It’s an impressive effort. The instrumentation and arrangements are a bit more sophisticated and inventive than on their previous recordings. Unexpected runs and fills pop in and out of the songs. The music is textured but uncluttered, whether it’s a three-part horn accent or riff, an odd combination of organ, guitar, and guitar in a rhythm track, or extra snare rolls and tom-tom overdubs (as in the title track “Lighthouse”). Look for a full review in the music pages soon.

Music starts shortly after 9 p.m. with Asheville’s The Trainwreks opening. Cover is $6 advance and $8 at the door.
