Grab a towel and some earplugs — 98X DJ Laine (known by some as the “Goddess of Rock,” pictured) celebrates her 33rd birthday with longtime Charleston metal legends Children’s Choir this Friday. The concert is set for Fri. Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. at the Rodeo Room @ The Plex. $6 ($10 ages 18-20). Local bands Coffin Syrup and Headrush fill the bill.

Guitar-playin’ brothers Kevin and Richie Isaac and drummer Paolo Licciardi (below) formed Children's Choir in 1990 or so. The trio were amongthe heaviest in town for years. They reunite once a year for big, weird gigs like this. Look for an interview with Kevin Isaac in this week's issue.

Portions of the proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sponsor so the bash include 98X, Ivory Tiger Tattoo, Exotic Impressions, City Paper, American Biker, Carolina Nightlife, and Safe Ride. All three bands are performing for free.
