Palmetto Brewing may be the oldest brewery in the state, but a quarter century hasn't slowed them down in the least. After being acquired by Catawba Brewing Co. in 2017, the Huger St. brewery has had some major upgrades in the works: creative one-offs on tap, brand spankin' new can designs, and now, a grand reopening of their courtyard.

Sat. May 18, Palmetto will throw a day-long grand re-opening party starting at noon. You'll no longer have to stare longingly at the sun-dappled patio from safely inside the tap room. You can sip your favorite cold one in the great outdoors.

Live music starts at 12:30 p.m. with Seitu Solomon's Steelpan, followed by The Ol' 55s at 3:30 p.m. and The Bluestone Ramblers at 6:30 p.m.

High to Lowcountry BBQ starts the day off with smoked meat and all the fixins' and Sap Lai finishes the evening with Southeast Asian cuisine. In addition to what's on tap, there will be three beer releases throughout the day: Catawba's Peach of Mind Farmhouse Ale, Small Batch Raspberry Smoothie Sour, and Barrel Aged #1 Scotch Ale.

The event is dog — they'll have complimentary Paw-metto brew biscuits — and kid — free face painting from 2-5 p.m. — friendly.
