We are but days away from the start of the 14th annual Charleston Wine + Food Festival. Trust us, we have plenty of delicious coverage coming your way, but for now, get a taste of what's to come with this roundup of fringe events. Fun, funky, and often free, there's something for everyone:

Monday

Wrap your brain around some bivalve education at NICO Seafood + Oysters' Monday  oyster class starting at 6 p.m. The class includes a dozen varieties of oysters; a welcome toast with Oysterman wine; plus an oyster knife, oyster candle, and signed copy of the NICO Oyster Trail.

Sap Lai Mondays continue at Charlestowne Fermentory for an evening of delicious Charleston and Southeast Asian cuisine starting at 5:30 p.m.

Proof's hosting the 6th Annual Lundi Gras party 8 p.m., featuring live NoLa-inspired music, killer drink specials, and chef BJ Dennis in the kitchen.

Lowlife is hosting the first ever Folly Beach Classic Bartender's Competition from 3 to 8 p.m. If you're a bartender, show off your talent behind the bar for a chance to win a $500 prize.

Stop by the Establishment from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for a taste of five specially selected wines. Tickets are $15, and no reservations are needed. 

Tuesday

Head over to The Watch at 4 p.m. for a relaxing Tiki & Tacos Tuesday for rum cocktails and $3 tacos.

Wine & Co. is having a special Tuesday Wine Tasting in honor of Wine + Food Week, featuring pours from sommeliers Cara McBroom and Avi Premlall starting at 5:30 p.m.

It's Fat Tuesday at Voodoo, so Let the Good Times Roll with Bourbon Street drinks, Bayou eats, music, and of course, beads. Event kicks off at 6 p.m.

It's Frothy Tuesday at Frothy Beard. Join them, with the Charleston Symphony pop band, for blackened chicken sliders and Mardi Gras-themed beer slushies starting at 5 p.m.

Party with the Brews Brothers at Edmund's Oast Brewing Co. for Fat Brewsday starting at 11 a.m. for drink specials and Creole-inspired eats.

Fatty's Beer Works is taking over the Bier Wall at Bay Street Biergarten from 6 to 10 p.m.

Celebrate Mardi Gras at Glazed with doughnut specials and Polish Paczkis starting at 7 a.m.

Starting at 3 p.m., Tabbuli's is celebrating Phat Tuesday with beads, masks, and swag courtesy of Pusser's Rum, along with Hurricane drink specials, music, and a drag show with the Haus of Tabbuli.

Taste six different French wines at Accent on Wine for $10, starting at 6 p.m.

Stems and Skins is hosting a series of events in honor of Wine + Food Week, starting with a visit from winemakers Vianney Benoist and Louise Chéreau of Château Canadeland and Chéreau Carré, along with André Tamers and Philippe Broom from De Maison Selections.

Leon's celebrates Fat Tuesday with food and drink specials like boudin balls, gumbo, $1 Miller High Life, $5 Sazeracs and Hurricanes, plus King Cake milk shakes (!!).

Wednesday

Join Bin 526's wine director and sommelier Jack Kaufman for a fun and interactive course to make you feel comfortable about wine. Tickets are $25 and the event starts at 6 p.m.

Head to Tattooed Moose downtown for a free Caskmates tasting, featuring an IPA, stout, and black barrel. Plus, get some free Jameson swag. Tasting starts at 6 p.m.

Pub Fare's back at Tradesman Brewing Co. for a night of burgers and brew, starting at 5 p.m.

Get to Edmund's Oast Exchange for Wine Bar Wednesdays starting at 5 p.m.

Charles Towne Fermentory is hosting Tapas and Trivia, featuring tapas, empanadas, and more from The Castejóns starting at 8 p.m.

Bar Mash is hosting a good old fashioned party, with design-your-own Angel's Envy old fashioneds, funky jams, and more, starting at 10 p.m.

Thursday

MUSC's Urban Farm is getting an urban kitchen. Celebrate the newly built kitchen and outdoor gathering space from 4 to 6 p.m. The free to attend event will include a DIY pizza station sponsored by Nimbo Pizza, complimentary refreshments from Island Coastal Lager, farm tours, and more.

167 Raw is heading to Vintage for lobster rolls, caviar, shrimp cocktails, drinks, and much more starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $140, giving you access to a full open bar and favorites from 167 Raw.

Snag a pair of stylish and sustainable shoes from Sabah at Basic Kitchen from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Commonhouse Aleworks and Hatch Tribe are teaming up for the inaugural Bosses Brunch, with an open, interactive round table for discussion about your life, business, or some words of encouragement. Tickets are $25, and event space is limited. Event starts at 8:30 a.m.

Join a panel discussion, "All About Grits," with Dames Nathalie Dupree and Erin Murray at 4 p.m. at Millers All Day. The event is free and open to the public, with light drinks and snacks.

Chicken Fats will be at Seanachai starting at 4 p.m., with chef Scott back in his old stomping grounds, serving up delicious eats.

From 5 to 7 p.m., Macallan Single Malt will be at Bar Mash, offering complimentary pours, along with food from Mercantile & Mash. RSVP to joy.edrington@gmail.com confirm your spot.

Starting at 6 p.m. head to Pour Taproom for their nonprofit night supporting The South Carolina Historical Society. While there, learn about women's suffrage in South Carolina in honor of March being Women's History Month.

Sommelier Gillian Ballance will be at Stems & Skins starting at 9 p.m. Stop by, as Ballance will be picking out the music, and chat with him about some of your favorite wines.

Pub Fare will be making its second appearance this week at The Hold, slinging delicious burgers to eat alongside $6 16 oz. beers during the brewery's "Some Kind of Funky Event" held in collaboration with New Belgium featuring hard to get funky and sour beers from The Hold and NB. The event runs 4-10 p.m. and food starts 5:30 p.m.

Get to Avondale Wine & Cheese for a taste of the featured wine in this year's Charleston Wine + Food Festival. Domaine Celine & Frederic Gueguen, The Piedmont Guy, and Maison Noir will be at Wine & Cheese for a tasting from 2 to 11 p.m.

Drop into Bin 526 for a special wine tasting with Rob Davis of Jordan Winery. The tasting is open to the public, starting at 6 p.m.

Place your order for Mexican Fried Chicken at Semilla. They sell out quick, and you don't want to miss out on the masa-fried chicken with charred jalapeno agave glaze.

Learn all things wine with FortyEight's sommelier Matt Williams in a special wine tasting and educational course. Tickets for the course are $20, and the class kicks off at 5 p.m.

Friday

Ben's Friends hosts a Zero Proof on the Patio event at Indaco starting at 10 p.m. The free to attend event will include mocktails, games, apps, and pizza.

Container Bar is having a Mardi Gras Masquerade from 7 to 11 p.m., with live music, drink specials, and masks.

Ted Diamantis of Diamond Wine Importers joins Stems & Skins behind the bar for a night of special tinned seafood and Greek wine pairings starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday

Blind Tiger & Wicked Weed Brewing are teaming up for a special dining experience: a four course meal from James Beard-nominated chef Jacob Sessoms and Blind Tiger executive chef Derek Falta. Tickets are $75, with two seating times of 6 and 8 p.m.

Zero Restaurant + Bar is hosting a wine tasting with the restaurant's wine director, plus a guest wine expert. Tasting starts at 2 p.m. and tickets are $60.

Twisted Cypress turns two! Starting at 12 p.m., Twisted Cypress will be celebrating their anniversary with craft brews, mouth-watering lobster sandwiches from the Immortal Lobster, and live tunes from Bizness Suit.

Join FortyEight Wine Bar on Kiawah & Palmetto Scent Studio for Bubbles, Blends, & Bites. Explore Palmetto Scent's 120 different scents, then make your own custom candle. While you pour the candle, pour a glass of wine from FortyEight, and while the candle cools, go to FortyEight to for a bite to eat and choose from their 48 selections of wine. Tickets are $25.

Get to Nippitaty for a family-friendly yoga class on the Distillery's lawn, followed by an organic gin cocktail, starting at 2 p.m.

Sunday

Get to The Watch for Sunday Brunch and Live Music from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to King Street Dispensary for the Wicked Weed Founder's Brunch to each and chat with the owners of Wicked Weed. Plus, Mike Hunh will be playing live music.
