Northeastern France must be beautiful this time of year — nestled between Germany and Switzerland the Alsace region of the country is home to gorgeous views and tasty food and wine. At last glance plane tickets from Charleston to the region's capital, Strasbourg, clock in at about $2,200. Woof.

Save a couple grand (and still take a little trip to France!) with NICO's special Choucroute Dinner ($60), next Thurs. Feb. 28. The evening is named in honor of the traditional Alsatian dish, Choucroute garnie, a hearty winter dish made with cabbage and salted meats.

The Choucroute dinner is the second iteration of NICO's monthly dinners, with each one highlighting cuisine from different regions of France. The menu is crafted by head chef (and France native) Nico Romo and executive chef Eric Williams and features cuisine typically found in Alsace.

Courses include: tarte flambee with creme fraiche, bacon, onions, nutmeg, and arugula salad, paired with Albert Mann, Pinot Blanc '16; family style Chocroute Garnie, cabbage with sausages and other salted meats and charcuterie and potatoes, paired with Albert Mann, Cremant d'Alsace Brut '15; and a 'Dampfnudle' for the third course, a traditional dessert of sweet steamed buns, served with plum compote and cannelle ice cream and paired with Domaine Schoffit, Chasselas Vieilles Vignes '16.

Phew, hungry yet? Reserve your spot at the Choucroute dinner by calling (843) 352-7969.
