High Water's Pass the Peas brunches include Short Grain, Chez Nous, and Renzo chefs, among others

Starting tomorrow, Wed. Feb. 6, tickets will go on sale for the third annual High Water Pass the Peas two-day brunch affair.

The feast, curated by local chefs and by Proof owner Craig Nelson, kicks off the fest Sat. April 13 and Sun. April 14 at North Charleston Riverfront Park at 11:30 a.m.

Ticket sales will take place in two waves: pre-sale tickets are first available to current High Water Fest ticket holders starting at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 through Thurs. Feb 7 at 11:59 p.m. Then, this Fri. Feb. 8 at 10 a.m., remaining tickets will be available to the general public. Tickets are $150 per session and include cocktails, wine pairings, and a coursed meal. Single-day tickets are available and do not require a HWF pass.

A portion of proceeds from the event benefits The Green Heart Project.

This year's chef lineup includes three-time fest participant Jacques Larson (Wild Olive, Obstinate Daughter), plus new additions Shuai Wang of Short Grain, Evan Gaudreau of Renzo, and Jill Matthias of Chez Nous.

No specifics yet on any of what that crew will be offering up, but Wang promises it "will be awesome," and Gaudreau says "it's hard to say exactly what we'll be cooking because I always start by looking at produce first — Certainly expect to see some of the punchy flavors we use at Renzo and a lot of beautiful Spade & Clover vegetables. But no pizza, sorry!"

We don't think you should play favorites — all these chefs know their way around a plate. But if you can only choose one day to attend (we get it, $150 ain't nothin), keep in mind that Sat. will feature Larson and Wang, and Sun. will feature Matthias and Gaudreau.

We asked the chefs who they're most excited about seeing at High Water 2019 —  Gaudreau says he's stoked about Dr. Dog and Phosphorescent. The Wangs say they love Shovels and Rope, but admit they also have a bit of a punky background. "Ozz-fest was the most extreme concert I’ve ever been to, a lot of angry teenagers round housing each other in the face in mosh pits," says Shuai. "Corrie grew up as a hardcore kid, so mostly was busy acting too cool to enjoy the show, but her first real concert was Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill, and The Pharcyde."

Larson says that "Ranky Tanky ... is something that is so unique and authentic. I think the band performs from a core that exemplifies the complexity, beauty and soul of Charleston. I think a number of people who have not had the good fortune of having Ranky Tanky in their lives will soon rectify that shortcoming, through seeing them at the Festival ... That is perhaps one of my favorite parts of the Festival; each year, I am turned on to new artists that I previously wasn’t familiar with at all. Lucius and Hamilton Leithauser are two such examples that now are heavy on my music rotation."
