Tis' the season for birthday parties: five area restaurants (and one brewery) celebrate another year around the sun

Sure there's the turkey tradition, and then we have the melange of December holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, mass commercialization of poor, tired Santa Claus. All that holly jolly spirit really sets the tone for birthday parties, though, and there are quite a few anniversaries worth celebrating around town. Light one up (a candle, we mean!) for these establishments in the next few weeks:

Wine Cellar is 10

Here's a reason to venture to the Mt. Plastic's Towne Centre — wine! Celebrate 10 years of Wine Cellar's Mt. P location (11 years in biz) with top tier wine (92-100 points), great food, and lots of prizes.

The Alley bowls into six years

The Alley is celebrating six years of bar food and arcade games this Saturday. Enjoy $20 AYCE oysters; free play on arcade games, skee ball, and hoop fever tournaments; $6 menu items including loaded tots, wings, pizza spring rolls, nachos, Italian sandwich, Classic Burger, Charleston Mix Bloody Mary, and frozen cocktails; $12 buckets of Miller Lite, Miller High Life, and Coors Light; $4 shots of Tullamore Dew and Jack Fire and Night Train; and a free concert by The Secrets starting at 8 p.m.

Moe's turns 20

Celebrate 20 years of bad ass beef (and the people behind the scenes) at Moe's this Saturday. In addition to the requisite burgers, wings, and cheap domestics, they'll also have a New Belgium tap takeover with eight different beers, food specials, and a raffle. Raffle items will include a beach cruiser from New Belgium, snow skis, a Grizzly cooler, and more. There will also be giveaways, samples from KandE Spirits, and live music from Whit's End.

Felix turns one

Celebrate one year of raclette burgers and French wine at Felix Cocktails et Cuisine. Every guest will receive a complimentary glass of Champagne along with an amuse bouche.

Vintage Lounge turns one

As a thank you to those loyal customers who sidled up to the Vintage Lounge bar this year, VL is popping 100 bottles of complimentary wine. Woo! There will also be a variety of complimentary cheeses, oysters, passed desserts, live music, and a take-home gift.

Palmetto turns 25 with a week of celebrations
Tues. Nov. 13-Sun. Nov. 18

The state's oldest brewery since Prohibition, Palmetto celebrates a quarter century with a week of events. Today starting at 6:30 p.m. at the brewery feast on five courses of Rodney Scott's barbecue paired with beer. On Wed. Nov. 14 sip on the Imperial Amber Ale at the brewery's release party starting at 4 p.m.

Thurs. Nov. 15 starting at 4 p.m. the Pink Boots Society will be at the brewery with the release of "Peach Dreams are Made of Breiss," an American Amber with peaches, dry hopped with Vic Secret and Citra. $1 per pint benefits the Pink Boots Society CHS, an organization that was created to assist, inspire, and encourage women beer industry professionals.

Fri. Nov. 16 there will be a small batch release of the Tequila Barrel Aged Huger Street IPA and Sat Nov. 17 there will be a Pints & Paws for a Cause Perseus Foundation night with proceeds benefitting four year old Charleston pup Yuki Saluki, who is in need of a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Starting at 4 p.m there will be raffle prizes, pet polaroids, live music, Slice Co. pizza, and $1 of every beer sold will go to Yuki's fund.

Round out the week on Sun. Nov. 18 with the small batch release of the Rhubarb Gose.
