Is it hot chicken season already? 2Nixons thinks so

Chick bait

In the last few months, it's felt like we've had a bit of a hot chicken reprieve. When Chick's Fry House closed a little over a year ago after a final push with their well received spicy yardbird, the city's appetite for the Nashville export seemed relatively sated.

Not anymore. Charleston's gotta a fever and the only thing for it is more hot chicken. Thankfully, Jeffrey Stoneberger has answered the call.

The owner of 2Nixons, a pop-up known for the chef's outrageous burger as much as for his beloved ramen, is partnering with Los Angeles' Howlin' Ray's Chef Johnny Zone and his wife Amanda for a one night only hot chicken pop-up at Rutledge Cab Co.

Some Like It Howlin' Hot will take place Thurs. July 27 beginning at 5 p.m. and will run until there's nary a bird left.

In addition to serving Howlin' Ray's Nashville hot chicken, Stoneberger will be dishing up really spicy tsukemen ramen with chicken drippings and Howlin' Ray's chicken seasoning. This is a first come, first served situation.

Meanwhile, another hot chicken event is percolating. In September, The Blind Pig and Lo Fi Brewing present: Holy City Hot Chicken & Hog event to benefit Charleston Waterkeeper.

According to a Facebook event page, the event is another one-night-only partnership between Lo-Fi Brewing and The Blind Pig Supper Club for "the Hottest Chicken and Hog Pop Up in town." The location has yet to be announced, but we do know that the $25 ticket will get you a plate with three pieces of hot dipped chicken (Breast, Thigh, Wing), wood-smoked whole hog barbecue, potato salad, cole slaw, and white bread and pickles.
