OK, Preservation Society of Charleston, it's time to make a new plaque — the 325 Savannah Hwy. Waffle House is officially an historic landmark. This year alone, the Waffle House has made a cameo on Anthony Bourdain's epic visit with Sean Brock for Parts Unknown, played host to Brock and Danny Bowien's free cheeseburger giveaway, and last night it got the official Colbert Bump.

Back in April, Late Show host Stephen Colbert and his guest, country music singer Sturgill Simpson set out on the ultimate goal — to get their own original track included on Waffle House's jukebox. Well, last night it became official, and to cut the red ribbon on their track, the two showed up at the West Ashley location to celebrate.

"I can honestly say, as long as my family isn't watching, that this is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me," Colbert deadpanned. And so began a playful interrogation of late-night diners at the local spot. "Do you party?" Colbert asked a bearded eater. "Kevin? Kevin? Be honest."

After asking a dreadlocked hippie if the carpets matched the drapes, Colbert and Sturgill cranked up the jukebox and served up a dance party to the tune of their "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Knuckleheads."

Great news, we can confirm that the Savannah Highway Waffle House still has the song loaded and in rotation in case you find yourself needing to rock out while enjoying something smothered and covered this holiday weekend.
