Osteria closes?

Locked up tight

Last week, the rumors started circulating that the Osteria/Massi's Wine Bar on King Street was closing down. The restaurant was opened by f&b veteran Massimiliano Sarrocchi and his wife Natasha in April of 2011.

In February of this year, they changed the name to Massi's Wine Bar and brought in a new chef — Michael Perez, who had worked at Trattoria Lucca previously. Looks like that change didn't do enough to bring new customers to the eclectic space tucked in next door to Blue Bicycle Books.

The website, FB, and phone are all still up and running, but well-placed sources in the culinary scene tell us they closed officially over the weekend, and their neighbors at Blue Bike say the doors have been shut up tight all week.

If it's true, and they are indeed closed for good, look for the talented Perez to land on his feet somewhere soon. We bet the new Italian restaurant Indaco on Upper King might be looking for a guy with mad pasta-making skills.
