Edwards says that 'Mystery Meat' is his first step toward "frankensteining" sketch comedy and hip-hop.
A company member of Theatre 99, Charleston resident Jordan Edwards brings a self-described half rap concert, half sketch show,
Mystery Meat: The Mixtape Vol. 1, to Theatre 99 This Sat. Nov. 11 at 10 p.m. Tickets are just $8 and
can be purchased online.
Edwards cites influences like
Chappelle's Show, SNL, and Kanye West, saying that he's been searching for a way to merge the worlds of sketch comedy and hip-hop. I want you to laugh, but I might also want you to feel uncomfortable," says Edwards. "The word 'mystery' is in the title because you don't know what's coming next."
While the show is billed as a one-man act, fellow Theatre 99 company member and writer Josh Christian co-produced
Mystery Meat, and will serve as a "hype man" for several of the characters and songs during the show.
