Beaufort, S.C.'s Penny Beesley presents her abstract works in a new show, Earnest Endeavor at North Charleston City Gallery starting next Thurs. Nov. 2. Beesley's mixed media works are influenced by abstract expressionism and she uses a spontaneous approach that involves scraps of paper, acrylic paint, and more. Her show opens in the gallery, which is located at the Charleston Area Convention Center, from 5-7 p.m.

In a statement Beesley says, “I like to work in a series of three to five
structures — either canvas, panel, or paper. I begin by energizing the surface without thought, only motion, and as shapes and designs come together, I pause, listen to music, walk away for a while, then return." Check out more of her works online at pennybeesley.com.
