Blue Bicycle Books and the Center for Women will host Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO and author of Lean In, in conversation with NPR's Michele Norris at the Charleston Music Hall on Wed. May 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Sandberg's 2010 TEDTalk on the ways women are held back at work and in their personal lives garnered a lot of attention, with women around the world sharing their own stories. The response led Sandberg to write her first book, Lean In, a compilation of personal stories, advice, and research on gender differences.

The book started a movement of sorts, leading to the creation of Lean In, an international organization that fosters Lean In circles (small group meetings) of women around the world, along with education initiatives and advice for men and women in the workplace.

And while Sandberg will likely discuss aspects of Lean In at the Music Hall, the book she's really here for is Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy, about the sudden death of her husband in 2015. Co-written with her friend, psychologist, professor, and author, Adam Grant, the book combines Sandberg's experience of grief along with Grant's research on finding strength in the face of adversity.

During her talk Sandberg will discuss what she and Grant learned about helping others in crisis, developing compassion, and creating resilient communities and workplaces.

Tickets are $35 and include a pre-signed copy of Sandberg and Adam Grant's book.
