Roundup of events canceled and places closed due to weather

If your mom is also blowing up your phone ("Don't drown! It floods!") then you know that Hurricane Joaquin is swirling off the coast, gearing up for some crazy weekend wind and rain. We've compiled the list of this weekend's canceled events and we'll keep it updated as the weather gets worse. If you know of a canceled event that we haven't listed please email connelly@charlestoncitypaper.com.

On the plus side, our surfer friends tell us this storm could mean major swells. At least someone can have some fun.

CANCELED:


Thursday's:
Rockin the River at North Charleston's Riverfront Park. 
Spiritline Bluegrass cruise with Ted McKee. 
Artist's talk with Adrian Chu Redmond at Hagan Fine Art Gallery.
MOJA events: Poetry & Storytelling: Tabu Hazel, Classical Encounter: A Musical Offering for harmony and unity in the Lowcountry, and Gullah/Geechee Conversation Part 2: Dis Ya Da Fruit Ob Da Spirit Restaurant. Call the office of Cultural Affairs for more info about rescheduling at (843) 724-7305.

Saturday's Cast Off Fishing tourney at the Mt. Pleasant Pier. 

Saturday's Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square.

Friday-Sunday's Greek Festival moved to Oct. 16-18.

Boone Hall's Pumpkin Patch will be closed through Sun. Oct. 2.

This Saturday's Lowcountry Heart Walk at Liberty Square.

Saturday's HOGS for the cause. HOGS says they are working on a refund process but they also ask ticket holders to consider their purchase as a donation to HOGS mission, raising funds for kids with pediatric cancer. 

Pearlz Avondale's Bubbles & Brine oyster roast has been rescheduled. Check their social media for the new date. 

Sunday's Oktoberfest at MUSC Stadium on Daniel Island. People who have already purchased tickets can call the Charleston Battery box office (843) 971-4625 to get refunds. 

Friday's Magnetic South concert at CofC has been postponed. All CofC events, along with classes, are canceled from Fri. Oct. 2.- Sun. Oct. 4 at noon.

Sunday's Latin American festival at Wanamaker Park.

Sunday's Thanks Joe! has been postponed to Sun. Oct. 25. The MOJA concert in conjunction with this event has been canceled. Refunds will be issued starting Tues. Oct. 6. 

Saturday's Lowcountry Walk to defeat ALS at James Island County Park.

Friday's Fright Nights at Boone Hall has been canceled — check their site for updates on Sat. and Sun. If you purchased a ticket for Fri. you may use it any other night this month. Sat. and Sun. night are also canceled. 

Friday's Judy Collins show at the Charleston Music Hall has been postponed until Tues. Dec. 22.

This Sunday's Buddy Walk at Etiwan Park.

Saturday's IOP Connector run. Participants who have already paid for the race will receive 20 percent off of the 2016 race during early bird registration. 

Friday's Loading Dock series at Palmetto Brewery. The tasting room will be closed Fri. and Sat.

Friday and Saturday's performances of the MOJA play, Stick Fly. Sunday's 6 p.m. performance is still on.

Tuesday's Brewsday at Old Towne Creek County Park.

All Charleston County Parks are closed today, Fri. Oct. 2. and Sat. Oct. 3., and Sun. Oct. 4.

The South Carolina Aquarium, Fri. Oct. 2 and Sat. Oct. 3. 

All City of Charleston city offices, Charleston DMV, Charleston Mental Health Center, and Charleston County facilities including public libraries. Public libraries are also closed on Sat. Oct. 3.

The Charleston Animal Society is closed for adoptions on Fri. Oct. 2.

The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art is closed on Fri. Oct. 2 and Sat. Oct. 3.

Summerville parks will close at 3 p.m. today and remain closed until Sun. Oct. 4.

The City Market, Fri. and Sat.

Irvin House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery, Sat. Oct. 2.

Caw Caw Interpretive Center in Ravenel and Mullet Hall Equestrian Center on Johns Island on Tues. Oct. 6.

Still on, ready to party

Blue Point Brewery's Boatyard Bash at Bohemian Bull is currently still on for Friday, 4-10 p.m. They've got tents, y'all. 

Friday's Art Walk is still on according to coordinator Julie Dunn. Here's to hopin'. (We really don't want to miss out on the free wine).

Friday's comedy performance by former Charlestonian Dusty Slay at Theater 99. 

Open (ya love to see that, don't you?)

All city parking garages will be open through Sun. at 6 p.m. for residents to park their cars.
