Our hometown playwrights Thomas and Judy Heath just don't stop. After a successful run of their original play Perfectly Normel People at last year's New York International Fringe Festival, they're heading back to the Big Apple this August with their new work Bedroom Secrets. First, however, they're presenting a workshop production of the play at Threshold Repertory Theatre on Fri. June 27 and Sat. June 28. The shows start at 8 p.m. and tickets are $30.

The play "is a peek inside the world of a psychotherapist and her office," Thomas says. Judy is a psychotherapist, and drew the characters from experiences she's had with patients over the past several years. She emphasizes, however, that each and every one of the patients in the play is fictional. "Nobody in the show is a person who came through my door. They're all amalgams."

Bedroom Secrets has a cast of two — one actor plays the therapist, while the other plays five different patients, both men and women, who are dealing with issues around sexuality.

Actor Stephen Wallem of Showtime's Nurse Jackie will be playing the patients, while Ashlie Atkinson of the TV shows Rescue Me and Law and Order — she also appeared in last year's film The Wolf of Wall Street — will play the therapist.

You can purchase tickets online at charlestontheater.com or by calling Threshold at (843) 277-2172.
