Easter Events

Posted by Erica Jackson on Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 11:52 AM

Whether your idea of a good Easter involves searching for (or hiding) candy-filled eggs or eating a huge feast, there are plenty of events going on around town to choose from.

For the kids, there are lots of (mostly free) egg-hunts going on all weekend. The City's Recreation Department has a nice basic list here. One of Charleston's biggest egg hunts is on Saturday at Hampton Park at 11 a.m. Enjoy a magic show, games, jump castles, and more. At the same time, the Children's Museum hosts an egg hunt in their garden for $2. Also on Saturday at 11, Middleton Place hosts a hunt led by the Easter Bunny. Children can visit with the new baby bunnies, chicks, and lambs, and learn the art of natural egg dyeing. Advance reservations are required — $25 for adults, $5 for children, and free for children under 6.

For the foodies, various local restaurants are holding Easter brunches on Sunday, including McCradys, Middleton Place, The Buccaneer, and Glass Onion.

Other noteworthy events include Gospel Fest at Riverfront Park and a free community yoga class at Holy Cow. And don't miss the Hat Ladies Easter Promenade on Saturday.
