Looking for more than boozing on this New Year’s Eve? The City of Charleston is hosting tons of free events tonight from 4-10:30 p.m. in and around Marion Square. It’s the perfect event for families, low-key folks, and anyone looking to start the fun early.

The celebration kicks off with a drum circle and opening ceremonies at 4 p.m. in Marion Square. After that, bounce around between different areas of the square, like KidsFest, the Jazz Tent, and the Main Stage, where you’ll find performances from Great Horns of Charleston & John Tecklenburg Trio, Kathie Livingston, Electric Company, Clay Ross Trio, Adande African Drumming and Dance, and the Blue Dogs. Also check out Theatre 99 for free improv shows periodically, as well as classical concerts at nearby churches.
