MUSIC | Before the debauchery ensues

The South of Broadway Theatre Company will be performing a classical concert for the celebration of the new year. So, if one of your New Year’s resolutions is to expand your cultural horizons, why not start a day or two early? The Epiphany concert is being performed by some of the Lowcountry’s finest classical artists, including Mary Gould, Frederick Brown, Esther Rose Williams (pictured), Richard Blakeney, Benjamin Lee, Amanda Jones, Jorge Araujo, Pat Benzien, and Rick French. The concert is going to introduce the company’s new program, Opera Zone, a new lecture group that previews operas from the current season of broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera. The group meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the conference rooms of the Charleston County Public Library on Calhoun Street. Admission is free and the group is led by Walter Boyce, who has worked with the Boston Conservatory and the Boston Lyric Opera.  —Reina Gascon-Lopez. Tues. Dec. 30, 7 p.m. Free. South of Broadway Theatre. 1080 E. Montague Ave. North Charleston. (843) 814-4451.
