Fashion designers draw inspiration from various realms, aiming to break the mundane when it comes to the clothes we put on our backs. Karl Lagerfeld even set his latest runway show in an artificial grocery store with most of the models strutting down the catwalk in tennis shoes. With Fashion Week upon us, the wide range of fashion choices will be put on display for all of Charleston to see, but it's also a great time to see other local talent that won't be showing under the tents, like Sabrina Scott who will be showing her 2014 Fall line Sabrina Michelle at Trio on Mon. March 17.

Scott was particularly taken by art-deco architecture, which is what compiles the inspiration behind her 2014 Fall Collection: DECOdence. She was struck by some of this architecture during a recent trip to Oklahoma and decided to work a line around the concept. Targeted toward young professionals, the pieces adorn classic silhouettes with edgy fabrics — like silk and leather — for a modern upgrade. Think Mad Men with a smartphone. Scott approach to fashion is more wearable than avant-garde. “Everything I design can translate into everyday,” says Scott. Her collection will also show her relationship with the vintage and second-hand store, the Exchange Factor. “I’ve salvaged Exchange Factor fur and clothing, repurposing old things [into new],” says Scott. One of the highlights of the show will be a knit see-through top with a Peter Pan collar, which is Scott's favorite piece. She also promises a decent amount of wide-legged pants.

Scott's collection will be shown exclusively at Club Trio on Mon. March 17. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show begins at 8:30 p.m. Usually limited to key-holder access, Trio is welcoming free admission and granting a VIP treatment to their usual key-holders. There'll also be free makeup applications courtesy of Jonny Cosmetics. And you can purchase Sabrina Michelle designs off of her website which includes information regarding upcoming trunk shows and events.
