Jamie Lin Snider's new King Street boutique JLinSnider has been open for a few weeks now, so we stopped by to check in and snap some shots. The Charleston Fashion Week alum has stocked the shop with her avant garde designs along with pieces from other designers like Michael Wiernicki. But the majority of the store is devoted to Snider's extensive vintage collection, including cowboy boots, furs, and designer dresses. Stop by to see it for yourself at 539 King St.
We've been hankering for another good vintage store since Estella Vitae closed, so we were excited to learn that Alice & Daisy and Gypsy Lady Antiques are teaming up to open a store in October. Located at 54 1/2 Broad St., the shop will have vintage clothing and antique housewares and furniture that are, according to a recent release, "geared toward the young professional — with price points to match!"
Alice & Daisy founder Kate Stewart is known for her style website, and she's always wanted to open her own store. Gleason Johnston of Gypsy Lady has made a name for herself organizing massive, stylish yard sales in her backyard.
They'll host a grand opening of the space during the Art Walk on Fri. Oct. 7 from 5-8 p.m. Local photographer Joshua Drake will also have works on view.

Parrot Surf Shop is celebrating their 10-year anniversary with 10 days of giveaways starting Fri. Sept. 23. Located at 811 Coleman Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant, the locally owned shop offers surf and skate gear as well as surf lessons and surf and SUP rentals. Manager Daniel Blackwell says they've always been committed to bettering the community as well, donating to charities, sponsoring surf contests, and taking part in events.
"Our customers are the reason we have become one of the best surf/skate shops in the southeast," Blackwell says. Which is why they'll be putting all receipts more than $20 into a daily drawing to win prizes like a Complete skateboard, an XCEL SLX fullsuit, and a GoPro HD video camera.
Parrot wraps up the week of celebration with a party and premiere of surf film Year Zero on Sun. Oct. 2. Find out more at parrotsurfshop.com.
We love Billy Reid's occasional get-togethers, but the King Street space can only hold so many people. For their upcoming fall fashion show on Fri. Sept. 23, Michael Mitchell Gallery is playing host up the street at 438 King St. The spacious, light-filled gallery seems like the perfect place to set up a makeshift runway. Friday's free event will include Billy's specialty bourbon drinks, food from Jim 'n' Nick's, and music from the S.C. Broadcasters, plus highlights from the designer's fall collection for men and women. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show is at 7:30.
King Street boutique Rapport is hosting a three-day event showcasing Armani's ready-to-wear line, Armani Collezioni. The fall line will be available as well as a preview of the spring collection. Stop by during regular store hours Thurs. Sept. 22 through Sat. Sept. 25 to check it out. Rapport is the only place in town where you can find the collection, so if high-end, tailored day and evening wear is your thing, be sure to stop by. Prices range from about $300 into the thousands. A representative from Giorgio Armani will be available to assist customers. Call (843) 727-0088 for more details.
