The Art Institute of Charleston recently announced the 2010 Passion for Fashion Competition, open to high school seniors across the country. Winners in two categories — fashion design, and fashion marketing & merchandising and retail management — will receive a full-tuition scholarship to study fashion at one of The Art Institute schools. Winners will also receive a trip to New York City to attend a Fashion Week show, attend a meet & greet at Seventeen Magazine’s offices, receive a $500 shopping spree, and more.
Students will be asked to create an original plan for their category.
To be eligible, students must be a senior in high school, set to graduate in 2010, complete an Entry & Release Form, have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, and write a short essay describing their interest in fashion. Applicants to the fashion design category must submit a finished, originally designed evening wear garment and process book. Marketing applicants must create a product or plan.
Deadline is Nov. 20. A scholarship entry information session will be held on Oct. 24 at the Art Institute of Charleston at 10 a.m. For more information, call (843) 727-3500.
