Simmering Scotsman not happy with buggy ride bollocks

Posted on Tuesday, July 14

One thing that I've learned today: Charleston is the most historic district in the world second to Rome, Italy. I am not sure if this guy had been following a pouch full of horse manure for far too long, but why am I not pleased. I may be a scottish tourist, but to sell us that bullshit and not show us some sort of local tradition, such as a historic pub or restaurant, makes me very angry. I'm not just another Yankee tourist down here for the cute buggy ride, I'm here to see the real Southern America and to learn about the culture that my ancestors' established here over two hundred years ago. Fuck me if I'm wrong, but I'd like to see more Charlestonians take more control over their heritage and identity than giving into cheap tourist gimmicks. I'd like to see an independent, self-sufficient town in terms of their local food supply being used by its restaurants and people. The farmer's market, vegitable bin and those who support local produce are brilliant. Convice those ignorant outsiders to support that instead of impersonal, corporate bollocks.
