Floating trash trail inspires cleanup cruise

Posted on Sunday, July 5

The next time all you so called "boaters" decide to head out to our waterways, do us all real boaters a favor...DON'T. As we cruised around on the water this past 4th of July we spent most of our time picking trash out of the water that all you "boaters" decided to throw overboard! I really love spending my time on the water picking up your fucking trash! If I could just find where some of you "boaters" live I would drive by your house everyday and throw all of YOUR trash back at you. And with any kind of luck maybe one of you would digest some of it and we would have to euthanize you. Which would give me more time to enjoy on the water and all the sealife a safer place to live. So when labor day comes around, do all the sealife and real boaters a favor, go to Walmart, buy yourself a kiddie pool, put it next to your boat in the backyard, put your speedo on, board your boat and throw all the trash you want into your piece of the water and leave our piece clean and safe ASSHOLE!

Hey True Boater, what makes you a True Boater over the rest of us? Is your boat longer, more expensive? The last time I looked, anyone with a boat was considered a "boater"! I agree 100% with you about people throwing trash into the water, but its not 100% of "boaters" doing this, (sorry 99.9% because I'm sure you have never done this). Unfortunately there is a small percentage of people in the world that don't give a crap about our planet and they give the rest of us a bad name, but for you to get all high and mighty and call out ALL boaters besides yourself is ridiculous. If you don't like the way us "boaters" act, maybe it's time to sell your boat and look for another setting to view, I hear the forest is really pretty...oh wait, "hikers" drop trash in there too...

Considering they pulled almost 500 pounds of trash off of Morris this past weekend is enough to piss anyone off and yes they got there by boat and yes it is your responsibility as a boat owner to make sure people on your boat are acting with some type of common sense. That is the type of crap that gets all of the boaters in trouble. More DNR and more regulations.

There was actually more like 1000 lbs of trash on Morris Island. Watch Ch. 4 news at 7 tonight for the story. Cummings Point was loaded with trash. And with the high tides we're having, most would have ended up in the water. The best thing is to take your trash with you and leave no trace.

Wow did not know it was that much. Now Folly is considering a ban. Seriously what is wrong with people.

It sounds like JBoat is just pissed because s(he's) embarrassed about all the trash they threw in the water this weekend. A "true boater" would respect the water they pay so much to keep up their boat to use.

Hey Huger, read my post again and you'll see what my point is!

I was anchored out at Morris this weekend and saw first hand the utter disrespect and ignorance of these kids. Most were in their early 20's and had no clue that leaving trash on the island was against the law.

I saw take a trash bag off of their boat and put it on shore. Then the other idiots added more trash to it as though it was a public trash receptacle.

I was anchored relatively far from shore b/c I didn't want to deal with the massive crowd and drunk idoit kids on shore, which is why i didn't pick it up myself. Although I did pick up any litter floated around me.

DNR was out there in full force and should have been watching out for litterers as well as reckless boaters and drunken kids.

Jboat I was not calling out all boaters, its the 3 time a year boaters I am talking about. You know Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day, they go out and raise all kinds of hell. And hey, you know what, I have NEVER thrown a piece of trash in our water ways but I am not getting all high and mighty, I am just expressing my anger for the people that treat the water way like a trash can. Jboat I am sure you are not part of the "boaters" that I am talking about and you probably respect the water and don't leave your trash everywhere. Lastly, why should I have to sell my boat, can't everyone just act like an adult and clean up after themselves, after all its against the law to litter.
