Missed Mahmood Fazal this year, but really enjoyed the other exhibitors' work. We were especially impressed with Elianna Radin's work! She's the 7 year-old daughter of the founders, Alex and Sara Radin. Her work is so mature! Reading the program is very enriching- helped shed a lot of light on the Hiott's Hope exhibit.

I was at this show, because i heard that the Oasis was putting on shows again. I caught all the bands and the two that stood out the most were go jenny go, and Lizard on the window. Go jenny go was a fun entertaining band, and Lizard on the window was just good old fashion fun punk rock. As i watched Lizard on the window, they said that it was their first time headlining a show, they went on at 11:30 and played to about 30 to 50 people and after their set, the crowd screamed for an encore. The other bands were decent The lungs, claymore, primo noctus. I dont know if this means anything but if you have a chance to see Lizard on the window in concert DO IT!!!!!! These guys have what it takes to be the next big thing out of charleston.

This show opening was my kick-off to Spoleto this year and was a lot of fun. I went with one friend and ran into about ten others at the opening...even late into the reception the place was hopping with people. The addition of live music at the opening reception was a nice perk as we looked at the work. This exhibit is in a great location (in the Citadel Baptist Church just across the street from the artists in the park at Marion Square). It's a good show to take in if you have folks interested in a variety of mediums. It was also free of charge, which is always a bonus!

Really excited about Plane Jane and ECPB playing at the same venue this year! I went last year and the bar was definitely understaffed, but I talked to the promoter and this was because the venue insisted on running the bar. This year they've overcompensated by teaming up with Ice Box bar service and having multiple open bars. This should be the best event going on this year.

The Charleston Crystal Ball last year was an amazing event. The entertainment, bands, sound and lighting were phenomenal. The East Coast Party Band and Blue Dogs delivered an incredible performance. The producer of the event did an incredible job. From what I understand, the venue understaffed the bars and didn't provide enough seating for the number of guests that attended the event.

I'm a total bookworm, too. I admit, I do have many unread books. Problem is I have so many good ones to choose from, and I always find myself asking, what do I read next, whilst having to choose from at least 3-4 different picks. But, I read constantly...I don't read 1 book a month, I read a handful.

All I can say is WOW. My third beer dinner in the Charleston area - by far the best! I am stuffed! They featured real meal size portions for each course, plenty of beer (the cask was bottomless so our table kept a pitcher full at all times!), and each course paired so well with the brews. The chefs cooked with the beer: third course was mean joe bean balsemic glazed pork tenderloin!

I was there...the doors were supposed to open at 6, but we all stood outside in line for an hour. Then, once inside, the first band didn't perform until another hour had passed!
The Oasis is a small venue and the bands barely had any room to perform--it was very hot in there. Devourement was awesome death metal and the drumming reminded me a lot of The Berzerker. Dying Fetus put on a great show, as did Vital Remains...man that guy put on some insane faces. One of the guitarists from Devourement put on a horse head while he played and it was quite amusing. We did not stay for the Cannibal Corpse performance, as we are not fans. Not to mention: whilst standing in line outside, their blinds on the tour bus were open, and everyone could see the sick porn they were watching. Ugghhh...exactly what I want to see, men in their 4os jerking off to porn. Gross.
Devourement, please come back to see us again! And put out an album already!!!

very entertaining. have never seen anything like this and probably will never again. definitely glad I took a chance and went. during some parts, I became comfortable and used to the sights and sounds only to be stimulated again by completely different sounds and visuals on the screens behind Umeda.
