"We are engaged in a superficial kind of unity"
I don't know if that's ever not been the case. Right under the surface of our famous "southern charm" is a deep passive aggressive sentiment rooted in fear and insecurity of The Other.
I wonder what the verdict would have been if the length of the video and actions depicted in the video were the same, but Slager and Scott had their roles reversed.
The posted websites is not working; get a message that says "This Domain Name Has Expired " and the number is always busy.
"With so many eyes on the street, justice today might rely only on a video "
and injustice may also be caused by a video. People are so used to being spoon fed their information now that few think on their own. They see a video or photo that appears to show one thing and refuse to accept that something else is occurring, already having formed their opinion based on what they think they see, or what others have told them they believe.
Fake news has become the foundation of politics:
This place is going to be filled with dudes thinking it will be filled with women.
If all are welcome, what makes it a women's bar except the color. Seems a demeaning come-on.
You make a good point that being non-racist isn't good enough. But don't tell us clearly what we need to do beyond that.
It was apparently 1 juror who caused the mistrial. Other than seating an all black jury, how do you deal with that in the next trial?
What!?! Just what Charleston needs a place for all them vodka drinking simple bitches to gather without all that complicated stuff like choices... This post make women look fragile and stupid.God forbid we have a brain and drink whiskey....
Google "satire", you knuckleheads.
Lord Lord Lord. I have forgiveness in my heart. There are still slaves in S.C.
This time stop praying so hard , get off your knees and get some black jurors.

It wasn't so much the choice of the place that I found off-putting, I can understand wanting to bring in some historical context, and I can even trust Tom C that they're going to deal with the whole issue over time. The moment that struck me negatively was when Padma referred to the location as a place where "people worked and toiled in times past" as if it was just a job that they happened to take. It felt a bit tone-deaf to the location.
Just gonna go ahead and put this out there for the next person who thinks the author of this article is serious.....
She's not. :-)
Oh pleeeeeease tell me that there will be a dress code requiring we all have our ankles and wrists covered at all times!
Thanks Michelle. I thought the same thing. Make mine a bourbon, neat.
I am so proud of you two. Thank you for your love and generosity to Mother Earth and all of the water protectors. Go through life with love.
Well, that is something for someone to dump a bunch of money into that they don't need any more. However, I'm the last person to know what works in F&B and certainly the moneyed, female debutante barfly set.
i do hope the menu will have pictures, as my father and husband have never permitted me to learn to read.
Wow. Nothing about this sounds enticing.
