Re: “Should bicyclists be allowed to cross the James Island Connector?

If the State of South Carolina really wanted to do something that was worth wild, they would BAN texting, and talking on a cell phone (unless it was hands free) instead of doing something as STUPID as this. The death on the JI Connector had nothing to do with the cyclist, it had to do with the inattentative driver in the AT&T van who was either talking or texting on his cell phone instead of paying attention to what he was doing.

Re: “Should bicyclists be allowed to cross the James Island Connector?

Neither route seems viable or safe. I think it's the countys responsibility to provide safe routes for bicycles all over the city and surrounding areas. It's time to move away from car-centric civil engineering and realize people have and use alternate transportation. The fact that this article suggests a longer route that isn't any safer shows how little anything but a car is not considered in roadway design. Essential, but certainly not practical, would be a designated pedestrian lane on both bridges like we have on the Ravenel.

Gingrich on Toxic Geo-engineering:

Toxic geoengineering to address the unproven and supposedly harmful AGW carbon: Gingrich, "Geo-engineering holds forth the promise of addressing global warming concerns for just a few billion dollars a year," Gingrich said back in 2008. "We would have an option to address global warming by rewarding scientific innovation. Bring on American ingenuity. Stop the green pig."

Gingrich's desperate back-peddling on his support for global warming alarmism and carbon taxes is yet more evidence that the former Congressman is a political chameleon who flip-flops whenever it's convenient for him and whose political campaign has no principled foundation whatsoever.

The Election will be rigged, You will be told that you are the only lunatic that supports Ron Paul. The bought and paid for Media will convince you of this. The US will be fully absorbed in the Globalist One World government ran by the UN. Your gun rights will be taken away. All the blood sacrificed by patriotic Americans over the centuries to support and defend the Constitution will have been wasted. Because you were blinded by the circus called television. You may as well apologize to your grandchildren right now, for losing the most free and just country the world has ever known. Unless by some miracle of God, people turn off the tv and study the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and realize what we are about to lose.

I think what's important is that 4 respected state senators in SC have endorsed Ron Paul. Last night, CNN demonstrated that it is thorough biased. And, SC schooled John King.

Clearly you have NOT been to the public schools on DI, which are in the Berkeley County School District and far from "rich and white." Do some research before making these remarks!

Re: “Who will get your vote in the Jan. 21 Republican primary?

The death of the Evangelical lobby could be the outgrowth of the boisterous support that Newt is recieving in South Carolina. While presenting an image of protecting American family life many Evangelicals are supporting a man who had a mistress for several years, and now sports a third marriage. That saga has been confirmed by his second spouse Marianne. Many Evangelicals are refusing to support Romney for a variety of reasons that are not hard to discern. All of this opposition to a father with a great wife and noble sons who has honored his marriage vow made years ago.

I am an Evangelical and as a Christian cannot understand support for Gingrich and non support for Mitt Romney. If this support results in Newt's S.C. win and getting the eventual nomination, I can no longer see any Evangelical credibility left in the electorate.

OMG! A giant 200 page PDF book aimed at exposing Mitt Romney during the 2008 Presidential race, possibly made by the 2008 John McCain for President staff, has surfaced on the internet!

Re: “Who will get your vote in the Jan. 21 Republican primary?

Letter to South Carolina from a well wisher (and a fan of the Great Santinis among you, long live the independent mavericks, we all have our human flaws): please do not fall for war mongering or the exploitation of religious emotions by particular industries such as the military industry complex. I don't like the theocracy of Iran, or theocracies anywhere, but sanctions or war isn't the best way to get rid of it: all it's doing is diverting more oil money to Saudi Arabia as far as I can tell. But the most important reason to listen to Ron Paul's views on war is that it is a huge tax, big spending that is not only counterproductive but drains resources from economic production, and thereby puts you at a disadvantage to countries like China which don't have to wage wars to penetrate markets and acquire business. China hasn't had to wage war on the US to get numerous American companies to shift manufacturing facilities to their turf or to sell its goods all over the US. The US must concentrate on trade competition. I am too old to learn Mandarin or any other Chinese language, and I doubt you want your descendants to switch to one of the Chinese languages either. The US should be the most prosperous and popular country on the planet, leading the way through economic strength and the character of liberty. Out of the current candidates in the arena, only Ron Paul can deliver this. Gingrich's hypocritical record speaks for itself, Santorum is a sad variation of Gingrich, Romney is a cartoon character born with a golden spoon in an orfice and a dream of Presidential power, and Obama is a (O)bummer. Please vote for Ron Paul, certainly the best thing to do.

Good to see Perry Back down from his upcoming defeat.
Ron Paul remains the only one who can seriously challenge Obama, but most of you haven't realized it yet. Sadly you probably will not and we get 4 more years of conflict in government to look forward to. Wheee!

Re: “Who will get your vote in the Jan. 21 Republican primary?

Does America really need another three syllable president? Most have been disasters. Anyhow, Santorum sounds too much like sanatorium. We need to simplify. A good old one syllable president might be what this country needs.

I personally will vote for the candidate that has the best chance of winning the election...
