Re: “A few tribute acts to see soon in Charleston

Prob. Ian would not want you to do a Fugazi cover band and if you did you better not make any money or charge for your show.

Re: “This is Charleston's opportunity to lead by example — once again

not "offended" CID. i used the word "defensive"--as in the white guilt you apparently feel. i have no time for that. and no interest in your hurt feelings. you might go polish your gun or whatever it is you do when you feel threatened by the gays, blacks and women.

i'm asking what specifically has charleston (broadly defined--educational institutions, individuals, leaders, businesses) done in the wake of Emanuel that is worth emulating? the author begins with an assumption that charleston has responded positively. but what does that mean? what have been the specific actions that have been taken? by what measurement has it been positive?

i identified the following as a post-emanuel positive (though i suspect it is more a triumph of theatrics than substance):

but what else is out there?

Re: “Thank you for my beautiful life

"To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think, spend some time time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that's a heck of a day."
- Jimmy V

Thanks Alison for helping us with all three. If there's a gathering place on the other side, I hope to one day see you there.

Re: “West Ashley bike lane narrowly survives City Council vote

Here are trying to solve the money problem with the James Island connector & you pass a bike (path) lane for the "FEW". How embarrassed you people in that office make Charleston look. Shame on you.

Re: “West Ashley bike lane narrowly survives City Council vote

I'm sure the new bike racks will require a small "FEE" to use them. I hope the city doesn't depend on these as a significant amount of revenue. If they do, they will starve. It just dawned on me that the bike lanes would also be a great place for the "DAME" MOPEDS,since they all travel about the same speed,"SLOW".
If you want to ride a bike, go to Hampton Park & bring a box lunch & then ride over to EX-RILEY park & watch a ballgame until the traffic dies down.

Re: “Thank you for my beautiful life

Alison, we have never met, I learned of you a month ago. Through your writings I see the strong love in your family and your dedication to teaching. Your writings have touched me and opened me to the power of sharing life during such a personal transition, and thank you for giving us names of other writers so we can understand just a little bit more. Your honesty has made a difference. Marj Berra (Steve Piepmeier is my husband, his dad was Pete)

To me, it is both the saddest and funniest thing that you enjoyed a Disney princess party. I learned long ago that having children changes many things.
You'll be missed.

Re: “Thank you for my beautiful life

Alison, we were always in different classes in school (because you were so smart and I was average haha) but through Christy we have ties. I'm glad I got to see you at our 25 year reunion and I've followed along your journey since. I've prayed for you and your family, especially MayBelle. There is a heaven! Please believe that. I pray for God to show you His peace so that you have no questions, no worries, no pain. I still pray that MayBelle learns to ride her bike for you to enjoy :) keeping you covered in prayer in the days to come.

Alison - thank you for being the most eye opening professor I came across during my time as a CofC student and the reason why I minored in Womens and Gender studies. Your words will not be forgotten. A beautiful life indeed. - Gillian Nicol
