We love CPH for selfish reasons. It is our go-to place on the way home from working downtown, late-night. They offer full menu (I think) until 1230 and you can't beat the beer selection. Try the rosemary popcorn; I would not have given it a second glance until a free sample at happy hour and now it is a sure thing everytime I go in. The mussels are great and the fries that come with them are a delicious bonus. Staff/owners seem like great people and we hope they do well. Since Vic's closed/changed owners this is an excellent substitution.

@isidella: Nope, not affiliated at all. It was my first time there and I thought the food was great and the service attentive. You are entitled to your opinion, as am I. Sorry you were so frustrated by what you imply was inept bartending that you had to keep sending your mimosas back three times, which frankly seems a tad over the top to me. Maybe they didn't have Cook's or something similarly "cheap." Maybe they don't use your brand of OJ. Who knows? If you want to twist it around that I was calling you and your friends pedestrian, which I wasn't, that's your prerogative. You seem to claim that the drink is so simple to concoct that anyone can do it (hence, my use of the term "pedestrian"), yet you seem to have rather exacting standards. I'm not much of a brunch person and I really couldn't care less about champagne. I also don't much care one way or the other if you return or you don't. I've been to plenty of restaurants where I've had a cocktail that was not precisely the way I'd make it myself, but the food and the service were outstanding. I'd much rather have good food and a so-so libation than the other way around.

mofred, would you happen to be affiliated with the Public House? I am entitled to my opinion, as "pedestrian" as it may be. Mimosas are king in brunch circles - and done better at other establishments around town. You won't have to worry about me or any of my many "pedestrian" friends coming back.

Without a doubt, the best burger and fries to be had anywhere around. My generously portioned, juicy, succulent burger was perfectly cooked to medium rare, and the choice of toppings (I ordered the Southern burger which sports a fried green tomato among other items) was really imaginative. The fries were out of this world. My wife had a terrific cob salad. Wide selection of beers (bottled and on tap), wines by the bottle or glass, and some interesting cocktail options. The decor is neither upscale nor low-end; just a comfortable, relaxing, friendly place to eat, drink and linger. The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. (Thanks, Rob!) We will definitely be back. Want to try those lamb burgers!

Good flatbreads and burgers. Brunch is another issue. They have great food but cannot pour a mimosa for anything (we asked for better pours on three separate occasions and they just can't get it right.) It is all OJ with a splash of cheap Cook's "champagne." For us, brunch is about the mimosas, so we will go elsewhere until they get it right.

A great addition to the Mt. Pleasant dining scene. We stopped by for lunch and the Fried Green Tomato Napoleon, Southwestern Salad, and California Burger were all delicious and reasonably priced. Great cocktail and beer selection as well. Will definitely visit again and often!

Stopped by the Coleman Public House on the way home from a party last week and was very impressed with both the quality of the beer offerings and the food, which is a clear cut or two above traditional bar fare. My wife and I split the lamb burgers and the red curry shrimp skewers...both were delicious, but the lamb burgers are outstanding. We will be back to sample more from the menu and hope the best for this welcome addition to the Coleman side of Mt.P. Recommended for both food and libations.

To the person who said the bartender put things on thier tab you are not the only one i had it happen to me and some of our friends have had it happen to them. I wonder if the bartenders are doing it and then spliting the money at the end of the night?? Something needs to be done. Me and my friends all said we would never go there again and i hope no one else does if they are going to run a business like that.

This place is a rip off!!!!!!! Keep track of what you order!! the bar tenders will try to put things on your tab that you didn't order. I have never been treated the way I was treated the night me and some friends went there. They tried to hold us hostage in the bar for a bar tab that wasn't ours and called the cops on us. They had a bounce there that grabbed my friend by the arm and said she was not leaving. The manager ADMITTED that she new I didn't order the drinks but that someone at my table ordered them and told them to put it on my tab! ok first of all I never even started a tab there so how could it be put on my tab and why didn't they ask me if that was ok!!!!!!!!!!!! When I said I would never go there again the manager told me good she didn't need people like me there!!!!! I will make sure I tell everyone I know what happend and never go there again!!!! and thank you to the gental man that paid the tab for us. He had been talking with some of us and knew that was not our tab and paid it. This place better hope there is no legal laws they broke that night!!!

Salsa nite has been discontinued on saturdays for months now, why is this still not updated. I've never tried the restaurant, this is not a review of the restaurant. Salsa nite used to be awesome but last I heard, it was moved elsewhere.

I recently made the move from James Island to Summerville (Wescott) because I bought my first home. My boyfriend and I have been looking for somewhere to go for Sunday brunch and came across Montreaux last month. We figured with the lack of other options in the area (and Fat Hen is a little too far to make the drive every weekend) we would try it out. We're both "brunchers" and search high and low for casual restaurants that serve our Sunday favorites.
I ordered the Crabcake Eggs Benedict and he ordered Fish and Chips-- though not something he would normally ask for at Brunch. I'll admit, my crabcake (which was in place of the english muffin/bread) was superb! The cake was VERY rich, but the portion was small enough that it didn't overpower the dish. Could have used some Panko to hold the structure of the cake together, but that's just my opinion. The egg itself, a little disappointing. I'm a snob when it comes to poached eggs. They need to be perfect with just the right amount of Vinegar mixed in with the boiling water. Anyway, I cut into my egg with my fork and expected the yoke to run free, instead it was over-medium. Bummer. Not a huge deal, it is a bar after all and the fact that they even attempt to make eggs benedict is a step above the rest. I also lifted my over-medium egg up with my fork and noticed the bottom had flat top marks (my boyfriend and I both laughed because apparantly someone got too lazy to make real poached eggs... whatever). Overall, the quality of the eggs benedict was mediocre but I give more points for the taste-- they were pretty good. I'd go back and order the Crabcake eggs benedict again, simply because it saves me the hassle of making it myself. The dish was far from a quality culinary representation, but the tast balanced any negative points.
Fish and Chips... don't bother. I wouldn't recommend ordering this dish (and my boyfriend will admit, I told him not to). Anyone can fry white fish and steak fries, but when it comes to ordering Fish and Chips in a restaurant leave it to the real English/Irish Pubs. The dish tasted "fine", but who wants to eat something that is just OK? Next time he'll heed my warning.
We love Bloody Mary's and were happy to see they had a build-your-own bar. I like a lot a horseradish and pepper, my boyfriend likes lemon. Great! We can do our own thing. The only down side, the bar was filthy. There were components spilled all over the table and the presentation was poor. I would have like to see some nicely fluffed linen and tastefully selected bowls. Or if they don't want to launder the linens maybe they could purchase a cart that has specific vessels for each item. I was disappointed to see olive and cocktail onion jars sitting on the table, dirty spoons scattered around, and dried Zing Zang crusted to the table. Yuck. A little presentation goes a long way.
All-in-all, Montreux has the bones to be a great little bar. The staff could use a few lessons in hospitality or timeliness, but the food and atmosphere are on the right track. Summerville is not downtown Charleston, so I didn't expect it to be when I walked in, but I really think the owners/management should take a few Sundays to sit through some off-the-Peninsula brunches and get an idea for what really appeals to the client.
For now I'll give Montreux one thumbs up. We'll try it again and see how it goes, but for the sake of us young professionals who had to move north of the great Peninsula to afford our first home, WE NEED YOU! Do your homework and see what works in other casual restaurants and bars.

Nice, clean, reasonable drink prices especially for the beach, and I've never had a problem getting service there.
Smoke free inside, always a big plus.

From a Folly Local: the service here is terrible. The bartenders can barely serve you even when the bar is empty.
Good luck in the winter with the local crowd to support you!

Have been lots of times, to both locations, but I prefer downtown. Now that they have closed, we are stuck with the Mt. Pleasant location. Service last night was awful - 30 minute wait for sandwiches, no drink refills, no smile, and overall we seemed to inconvenience the server who was clearly more interested in going home. Food was mediocre and not up to par even for casual dining experience. Soggy fries, unseasoned fish, overcooked burger, etc. I complained to the manager who pulled my check up only to find out the server took it upon herself to double the tip I had signed for. Not sure I will ever be back.
