This place on a Saturday is ridiculous. They charge 5$ cover fee to have to wait at the bar and get served like 20 mins later. Who does this 5$ go to? That stuck up little club promoter who thinks his stuff doesn't stink. GET RID OF THAT GUY!!! I will take my business elsewhere.
After spending a good deal of time and money at this restaurant, Halls finally showed us their true colors. Dont be fooled by their fake charm like we did. They need a security doorman at the front to handle the drunk unruly patrons who insult and fall over other customers. I felt like i was at a Biker Bar. The Halls and their staff are ineffective and inexperienced to deal with this. I have been to numerous steakhouses over the last 25 years and this would never occur there . Do yourself a favor, go to Oak and be treated properly and professionaly everytime, in addition to getting a much better quality meal.
While the product is generally good, the service from one of the owners (the tall skinny guy, the other guy is rather decent) is practically abysmal. Initially, I was excited to have an independent coffee shop open in my neighborhood, and I had patronized the establishment solidly for a month (they only recently openned), often doing end of the work day paperwork there. The last time I went in, I ordered a 16 oz Chai w/ no ice and almond milk, because I do not like paying 5 bucks for a 16 oz drink and only getting 10 oz of product ( I worked as a barista for 2 yrs, so I know the product mark-up). First he gave me a drink that was made with milk instead of almond milk, as I requested TWICE, and was about half-full of froth from shaking in the mixer. I took literally two sips and thought it tasted off and that the weight was particularly low, so I looked again and saw the froth. I decided to let the froth settle before asking it to be topped off with almond milk. He said that it would be extra. I asked whether or not it was almond milk, it was not, and he replied "oh so you drank half the drink before noticing it was reg milk" I responded that I had only taken two sips and that it was mostly froth. He did remake the drink with almond milk and curtly apologised but then went on to say "we have everything marked (regarding proportion), and we cant change up the recipe just because you dont want ice in it" he then added " Were not a McDonalds". I have not eaten at a Mcdonalds in nearly ten years, and was deeply offended by the whole transaction. I wanted to retort "no shit shirlock", but just looked at him and said "You have a nice day" and left. What a pretentious and deceitful prick, and I will not be spending my hard-earned money here again.
Ordered take out wings last night from Wings and they had a problem with their credit card processing system. So they just kept swiping my card and eventually gave up and wrote up a manual slip. Lo and behold the next morning I had been charged 5 TIMES on my credit card. Definitely won't be using a credit card if I ever go there again! Now I have a huge mess to straighten out with them and my bank.
One of the most awkward entrances I've ever had into a bar. Being a huge fan of Trivia, I was excited to try a new place. Not intimidated by its "hole in the wall-ness" we strolled in and quickly wished we wouldn't have. It was disgusting, and the worst part? There wasn't even trivia.

Wow where do I start with this nightmare. I am a pretty easy going guy, rarely send food back or complain. It was a busy Friday night at Folly Beach but Snapper jacks wasn't too busy, we waited at the bar, had a good beer and were seated at the table in about 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes our drinks were about gone and we were curious where our waitress was, the hostess found her sitting at the next table next to us with friends, I had noticed her there when we sat down, she was there the entire 20 minutes and laughing with the friends I didn't think she was a waitress. The waitress, Lauren, came over and took our drink order, we ordered soon after and that's where the nightmare started. After about an hour we wondered what had happened to our food, there really wasn't many people eating in this place. About an hour 15 one plate came out, and it took another 15 minutes to get the rest. my chicken was paper thin, cold and dry as rubber, whatever the flatbread shrimp thing was was burned on the bottom and the Salmon was 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long, for $18 REALLY!!, I have had bigger and better Salmon at Sams as a sampler. The only decent plate was the fried shrimp, tough to screw that up. I gave my plate back to Lauren the waitress and our friend returned the burned flatbread thing and asked for an appetizer which she got quick, it was only shrimp dip, pretty bland btw. The manager came over about 15 minutes later, his name was Jay, he did the typical manager "i'm sorry but I really don't care" routine and said he would look into why our food was so bad, so late and so separated in delivery, I didn't expect to see him again and I wasn't disappointed. So after the chicken and flatbread thing was removed we still owed almost $100 between 4 people, friggen insane for the night we had in that place. I have been in Charleston for almost 20 years and have never had such an experience. We will never go back there, and I tell everyone I know the same, I hope tourists read this and stay clear as well. Lauren find another job, maybe involving a pole, Jay I heard there's a opening at McDonalds, you're a poor excuse for a manager, you weren't that busy you couldn't take care of paying customers
RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL! I wish I could give a -5 star rating. Very poor level of customer service and professionalism is displayed by the new owners Todd & Piggie Hines. I will never return to this store nor the North Area store and every parent that I come in contact with at my child's school, at work, church, shopping or in general conversation will be told to not patronize their establishments.
Readers: make sure to read Peggie's responses because you can read and "feel" her lack of professionalism in the tone of her responses. RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL! NOT to go into details but she had the audacity to say to me 'I feel sorry for your children.' Really? The fact that my CHILD (1) was present was what stopped me from saying anything more than how rude you and your husband are. And please understand the proper way to address a grown woman is NOT 'Honey.' I am not your honey. And for your information I did not curse anyone at your North Area store. I called the NA store to in fact inquire if OUAC has a corporate location to file a complaint about the poor service that I initially received when dropping off my items. What I said was I don't know who the employee was but she was a b*#@! Peggie (and I am sure the name is spelled correctly because when asked for her name she unprofessionally came from behind the counter and stood over my shoulder and said "it's -ie make sure you spell it right." Really? What proprietor treats a customer as such.
Todd (Peggie's husband) then follows me out of the store and proceeded to launch personal one sided insults. Mr. Hines, very rude and unprofessional. Get a dictionary & thesaurus so that you don't sound ignorant when you spew your hateful words.
I will give credit where credit is due and will state that the new owners have improved on the look and smell of the store and the young ladies that are employed at the WA store are very polite but that won't last long with such rude and hateful owners and the poor level of customer service. FYI Peggie-Word of mouth is the best advertisement good & BAD!
This place is like eating at a food truck. It's a small menu with trendy food that is a bit pricy for what it is and not that tasty. Save yourself some money and go to Five Loaves and get a salad and sandwich for the same price.
One of the worst experiences I've had at any restaurant downtown. Went on a Saturday while shopping on King St. with a party of 5, and 3 of us had problems with our entree's. The fish I had was burnt on the underside, while a friend of mine had chicken that tasted raw and flavorless. Just awful in every respect and the management did not seem to much care when he came to our table, thinking we were a bunch of tourists he'd never see again. Little does he know we are all local foodies with a wide network of friends. They do not have a good reputation with locals is evident after talking to people about this, its evident they are out to grab the tourist shoppers on King St., and could care less if they come back.
My boyfriend and I ate dinner here a few weeks ago on a romantic getaway to Charleston. We chose Stars because the menu sounded good, the weather was nice, and they have a rooftop bar. We made a reservation, were seated promptly by a friendly hostess, and were excited to try the many delicious-sounding menu options.
Our high expectations were not met, unfortunately. It was extremely loud inside the restaurant, to the point of not being able to hear each other screaming across our small two-person table. Additionally, the bruschetta and flounder tasted like the Dead Sea. I didn't have high blood pressure when I went here, but I could very well have left with it, considering the ridiculous amount of salt in these dishes. Upon "finishing" our meal, and sending nearly the entire plates of food back to the kitchen, no one bothered to ask us if there was anything wrong with the food.
The lesson I have learned from this experience is as follows: if you want a fun drink and a cool rooftop atmosphere, this is the place to go, but if you want a delicious and romantic meal, look elsewhere to one of the many fabulous Charleston restaurants.
Pages is really not an ""Antique Shop" at all. It has some 1930s-1980s vintage collectibles and furniture but no real or fine antiques at all. The building is quaint and a wonderful photo op for tourists on their way out to Sullivans. I think to compare it to Terrace Oaks is sort of like Apples and Oranges. One has real Antiques as well as Vintage and the other has simply vintage.
As an antique collector as well as a vendor, I must say that this is the last place I would consider even nominating as "Best of Charleston" for this category. It must be that the voters have not visited/spent time in the other wonderful shops/malls nearby (e.g. Six Mile Antiques, which should have won, Charleston Antiques Market, which is down the road from Six Mile, and, over the bridge in James Island, The Terrace Oaks Antiques Mall). All of these malls/markets have a great variety of vintage and antiques items in several categories of collecting, and it truly is difficult to imagine that voters should have chosen Page's unless they had not experienced any of these other great antiques stores.
The service at this place is terrible. Ive been there about 3 or 4 times because the food is decent, but I doubt ill be going back. I went there this past weekend and watched people on the right and left arrive after me and get get served over and over at the half filled bar...you seriously have to wave down one of the girls behind the bar just to get a drink or place and order. So after it took twenty five minutes for my order to come I just got it to go and left. Great way to lose business but maybe theyre not too concerned about that.
Same good 4 reviews everywhere. Sure. I understand that one can't make everybody happy but I couldn't understand why 1st Choice, which is now not even an option for me, didn't answer the 100 calls we had to make to even find out why they wouldn't show up for work. Finally, after 2 weeks after the service start date quoted on the invoice, some people just came and ripped off all ducts, piled them in the back yard and disappeared in an hour and a half with half of the money for a complete airduct replacement. After 3 days without a working AC and no update as to what in the world they had been doing, I finally get somebody on the phone who started talking about how we should all blame it on the weather. All I want at this point is my money back. An HVAC specialist has already been contacted. And yes, it's "an", not "another" HVAC specialist.

Absolute miserable and rudest owners and employees ever. I was asked to leave the store for being on my cell phone. Didn't even have time for the phone to ring once before the rude employee told me to get off my phone and pointed at a sign saying "no cell phones". Is this even legal? Miserable creatures operate this store. Avoid at all costs. High prices too.
I am so confused by these reviews... Local food? You mean pancakes and fried chicken? This place is GROSS and for some reason always packed and therefore incredibly slow. I could see it being awesome if I was completely high or it was 3am or something. But then I'd rather have Waffle House's fresh local waffle or hashbrowns.
if you are a mindless zombie who follows fads while neglecting quality, you might like this place. if you have even a whisker of taste, you won't waste your time. the food is terrible, the beer is overpriced, there is NOTHING german about it. the only thing they have going is the fact that it is new. it is located next to the projects so don't get jumped while you walk back to your car since there isn't adequate parking. actually, you might be better getting a colt .45 and hanging out on the corner. at least you won't wast too much money. i'd give them some credit for the decor, but it looked the same before the joint was purchased by the current owners. basically it will be one of those places where anyone local will stop going to within a month, and anyone still caught there will be made fun of. look at any of the reviews of this place, google, tripadvisor, etc. they all say the same thing.
P.S. i thought the point of going to a bar was having someone else pour your drinks

But The Sound Board Is The Worst I've Heard Maybe He Just Doesn't Like Bluegrass Or Folk. The sound man can make or break a venue
