Went here with my brother and wife to set up an appointment with Robin, wife places her down payment of $40 for next week, my brother and I email our tattoo ideas. Robin doesn't show up to his appointment, luckily they were able to transfer it over to a brother shop. 3 weeks and 4+ phone calls go by and they haven't responded to our email. No apologies. Taking our business elsewhere. Art work seems great, costumer service not great.
I went a few times when they first opened. The service was terribly slow. The food was hit and miss.
As has been stated by others, these guys do not know how to make sushi rice, for some reason. It is wet and soggy. The flavor is not correct for sushi rice.
The last straw was when I went to get some takeout. I bought quite a bit because I like to snack on it all night. When I got home and took it out, the tuna had thick white stripes. This is not fat, it is connective tissue or gristle from a part of the steak that you should never use to make nigiri sushi with. I tried one piece, and had to spit it out. It was like eating a rubber band. I could not force myself to swallow it.
I drove straight back there, and told them I wanted my money back (which they did without argument). When I got back in the car to go home, I noticed it smelled like someone had farted in there. That's how bad the fish was.
I will never go back.
Not bad but nothing special. I remember once when they tried to charge me a dollar for a Styrofoam cup of water. Smoaky Oak on JI is better IMO.
This place is the jam. I can't say enough nice things about it. My husband and I go at least a couple times a month- their food is always delicious. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their dishes. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The happy hour specials are the bomb. I love The Granary! You will not be disappointed with this restaurant.

Jb's is really good, you just need to go before the buffet gets destroyed. Their meat is really smokey, i don't see how the last guy thought it wasn't unless his last name is Dukes
Bugby Hole was a popular anchorage on the Thames River for larger ships needing protection from storms and tides. The oxbow of the river at Bugby Marsh (Greenwich Peninsula) created this deep hole just outside of London where ships were required to fly their colors prior to entering the city. Numerous references to “Bugby Hole” or “Bugby Marsh” or “Bugby Reach” exist in shipping maps and Parliamentary records prior to the 1800s when some maps started to misspell the name as “Bugsby.” This is a common mispronunciation of our family name. “Bugby Marsh” was slow to be developed because it was a marsh and needed to be drained. The Dutch evidently helped to do that. Early artwork and maps shows it as a vacant stretch of ground, where the pirates were hung in gibbets away from businesses and homes but in plain view before starting an overseas journey. During the time of the East and West India Companies, Captain John Bugby was active in overseas shipping. There were other Captain Bugbys including Timothy and William around 1625. Popular use by the Bugbys being anchored in this location is what likely landed the name. They were evidently proud of having their family name being placed on “Bugby Hole” for river maps of the Thames in the early 1600s. The Bugby family of London had the money to invest in plantations at Montserrat, St. Croix, and South Carolina during that time. “Bugby Hole” was used as the name for these plantations in the West Indies, (Caribbean). Books by Daniel Defoe, the author of Moll Flanders, and his official British coastal guide, referenced “Bugby's Hole.” By 1665 naval maps and even a ship diary referenced “Bugby's Hole” during the London plague. “Bugby Reach” appeared on some maps on this stretch of the river. “Bugby Marsh” was named for the stretch of the river but no Bugby was ever a landowner there. Later maps continued to use the misspelling of Bugsby on the marsh and on the river after 1850. “Bugsby’s Way” in Greenwich at the O2 arena is a great tribute to the early history of the area. Really disappointing. The good reviews were the reason I decided to go there. I guess I should have known better as soon as I saw the buffet setup. There are about a thousand bottles of their sauce in there, so it seems like they are trying to sell sauce rather than good food.
I picked up a pound of Pulled Pork (I like BBQ sandwiches) and a large Mac and Cheese to bring home and share with my friends. The meat was sort of soggy, and had clearly been reheated. There was no flavor to it. There was no bark or crust. I could not detect any smoke flavor. Contrary to their slogan, the only way to get any taste from this was to sauce it up. Their sweet sauce was really good.
The Mac and Cheese was the worst I have ever attempted to eat. I mean really bad. I appeared to have been made many days prior. One of those microwavable cups of Kraft would have been a far better choice. I threw most of it away.
Hard to believe how difficult it is to find good BBQ in Charleston. Don't get me started on Home Boy Team Robbery BBQ - They suck too.

Hidden gem of the city. Ultra cool atmosphere, excellent food, first class service and, thankfully, off the beaten path. Best appreciated at night when you approach through the gas lite courtyard, walk through the cozy kitchen, step down into the intimate bar, slip into the adjoining restaurant area or proceed up to the lounge rooms bathed in candlelight. As a Charlestonian, it's my go to place to impress friends, clients and dates. My only hope is that the locals don't find out about this place, which I might have just done with this review.....

Food is good but not great, but the space is really beautiful!
I remember passing this lodge in the late 80's and early 00' while visiting my Aunt and Grandfather that lived on Sol Legare rd and Richardson Rd. My eyes always followed it. It was leaning to the side almost in the 90's when I saw it. Looked abandoned. my dad said when he was younger he would go there..He didn't speak of his past too much though.
As of 2-4-2015 under new management Don-Ton Services LLC. Now open 7 days per week. New owners Donald and Tonya Adams have a high standard of customer service. The expectation is to create a friendly, enjoyable place to enjoy food drinks and the company of friends in a marina setting. There will be live music on the deck throughout the summer. We invite you to come on out and enjoy the setting , friendly people and the cool breeze coming off the Stono River.

My wife and I had one of the best meals we've ever had here last weekend. I had the brick chicken which would have filled both of us - half of a chicken and a giant plate filled with beets, white sweet potatoes, carrots, and other seasonal veggies. The chicken skin was peppery and crispy, but the meat was almost melt in your mouth juicy. It was a nice dining room with very professional service - hearing the sound check over at the Pour House was kind of fun...put some James Island character into it.
Amazing! Best Mexican in town and frozen margaritas!
annac, when you declare "the lowcountry lacks service and pride in the food service industry",...oh bul%#@t. you are condemning the whole community. you can like one without insulting all the others.
After 40 years in the food service industry I can testify that most employees are motivated by pride. it aint the pay and glamor that keeps us going.
Best biscuits and gravy I had, anything from their specials to regular menu it's always good!
