Re: “The Break Room

We love the Break Room and everyone there! They have the best food! (Thank you, Nate!) Tony is the best bartender ever...we met "Bartender Bobby" the other night and he did a great job. Bobby is a very nice person! Good prices. The regulars there are the nicest people you would ever want to meet...Jan, Pete, Steve, Jerry, Missy, Jake, and of course...Willie :) just to name a few of the many. Great, very friendly, welcoming crowd. The Break Room is upscale without being snooty. We found the Break Room quite a while ago and we have become "Vacation Regulars"! Made good friends and we look forward to go there each time. We always feel welcomed by all! ~ Terry and Barbara Bozon, Raleigh, NC~

Re: “Wolf Track Inn

Wolf Track will be smoke free soon, thank you Charleston County. Question is, do they deserve our business since they didn't go smoke free voluntarily?

Re: “Wolf Track Inn

Always liked the Wolf Track but since I quit smoking, can't do it anymore.

Re: “Wolf Track Inn

Was a truly fun evening when the Wiggins Brothers played about a month ago maybe late June or early July 2012. I hope the 'Track' will have them back soon.

Re: “Hippodrome

I attended the Sara Jarosz show this past weekend. The music was great, but the venue logistics were amateurish at best. My tickets, purchased at the Hippodrome, actually had the seat number scribbled on with a pen. There was no seating chart published online and many people found their groups separated once inside.

Did I mention that they began letting patrons in prior to the show without taking tickets? Not a problem until they pushed everyone outdoors into the July heat only to re-admit an hour later. It was my impression that the Hippodrome managers had never actually managed a show before.

The caliber of the performers warranted a better showing from the venue. Personally, I won't be returning and hope the promoter finds an alternative before booking another talent such as this. Disappointing.

Re: “Hippodrome

Sara Jaroz and her band were fantastic. The rest of the evening left much to be desired. 7pm was the starting time of the concert, with an opening band prior to Ms. Jaroz. We arrived at 7pm and waited almost one hour, standing up outside in the heat...why could we not be seated, cool and settled for the concert? Slow at the ticket counter (only one)...another wait inside.

After 8pm we were finally admitted only to discover it was dark in the auditorium....
NO HOUSE LIGHTS to help find your seat. One or two staff were available but none of them helped anyone to their seat.

HOUSE LIGHTS are used to help people get seated SAFELY and so they can scan to find personal items prior to leaving...what is so hard about flipping a switch?

And then there was the alcohol...selling before the performance, no problem. Selling DURING a performance is cheesey...increase your profits, did you? Throughout the entire evening people were walking to and from the bar/restroom....right in front of the performers (SO RUDE) and the rest of us...very distracting.

Other than the performances, it was a miserable evening.

Re: “Stono Breeze Waterfront Bar

the view is amazing there and it can be such a nice place to grab drinks with friends. But unfortunately the service is terrible. I have never been so disapointed in an establishment before in my entire life. Unless you are friends with the staff, a slip owner, or even just an attractive guy with the boat. You are not going to get the treated properly.

Re: “Pearlz

Pearlz is great for happy hour. The menu is very reasonably priced for the quality of food. They have a tuna tartar dish that is a stand out, and the shrimp are perfectly fried. The fish tacos are unremarkable. I'm not an oyster person, so I can't speak for those, but people seem to love them. In addition, the draft beer is always really cold, and the bar tenders and servers are friendly and efficient. I've never had a bad experience at this place.

Re: “Cha Cha's Tequila Bar

, I'm giving it 4 stars based on my experience. The happy hour is excellent: plentiful free pool tables and $1 Tecates (and when those ran out, they upgraded to a Costa Rican beer called Imperial.) The food is very good, especially for a place that identifies itself as a sports bar. We enjoyed the homemade tortilla chips and salsa and had no trouble getting to an open pool table at 5 pm. It appears as though renovations may not be complete yet...but the Mexican Day of the Dead murals that adorn the walls help set a fun vibe, as do the hand-painted, glowing skulls on the bar. We really enjoyed our appetizer sampler--the surprise hit for me being the fried pita bread. The Bacon-wrapped jalapenos were quite tasty too. My wife, who used to tend bar at a Latin bar, was blown away by her first rocks margarita, but had to ask them to remake the 2nd one...meaning it depends on who makes it. (Nicolette made the best one.)

The most important thing we noticed is that we could truly feel that everyone there is trying very hard to make this something good. Dollar beers and good food will get me in the door once. The attitude and effort being put forth have already brought me back for repeat trips.

Re: “Cha Cha's Tequila Bar

My hubby and I went to check the place out for the first time tonight, and I gave it 3 stars bc I did like the atmosphere. We thought the chips and salsa were yummy, as the salsa was good and spicy with some kind of fruit in it? Good stuff! The frozen screw driver tasted was not too good, and I thought my margarita wasn't too good. My husband's lamb taco was really good! My fish taco was fishy though ugh, so that was disappointing. We live on Ji, so appreciate the JI vibe, but for food sorry but we both agreed we'd stick to Zia. The place is new though, so hopefully the food will get better! Overall cool joint to hang out!

Re: “J. Paul'z

The bar at the new place in Mt Pleasant stinks. Disinterested and ignorant head bartender (Patrick), bimbo assistant bartender (Liz) ...... warm beer.

Stay away.

Re: “Laura Alberts Tasteful Options

Close drive from airport. Friendly and outgoing staff knowledgeable on craft beer and wine. A quaint gourmet cracker-barrel (shop and eat: half wine/beer shop, half southern cafe)! Modest but stellar beer selection in back. Growler and bomber fills. I definitely will be back!

Re: “Cha Cha's Tequila Bar

Tried it out for the first time this week. Was very impressed with set-up, HH deals, and the tacos were great. Free pool, $1 Tecate, $2 tall boy PBR during HH (4-7pm). My two tacos were a lamb chorizo sausage wrapped in bacon with crispy onions and a spicy sauce, and a tempura baja fish with fresh red cabbage and cilantro n onions. Both huge, both super-tastey, 2 for $7. What's not to like there?

I'm sure some hyper-critical foodie D-bags will have something to say about this place (they always do...) To them I say tuck your Brooks Bro. shirt in, go eat at husk for the 3rd time this week en route to IOP for your beach day. This place is chill, friendly, good F&B at great price points. Should fit in nicely with the JI and FB crowds.

Well Done!

Re: “Pearlz

I must admit that I have enjoyed Pearlz may times in the past. This trip was not the experience that I was hoping and have enjoyed iln the past. The waitress’ recommendation on oysters was totally off base, I don’t think she actually eats oysters. Secondly, grilled Mahi fish taco was mostly a cabbage taco with little chunks of fish on top. It’s not at all what I’ve come to enjoy on my previous trips. I think I’ll just stick to the gulf oysters and skip the rest of the menu.

Re: “Tristan

Hadn't been to Tristan's in a while, well over 5 years ago with a different chef and different style, and thought it was time to give it a try, again. Our meal was excellent and on par with the other top restaurants in town. We won't wait 5 years to go back, that's for certain.
