Johnson's Pub saved my bachelorette party.
I can't say enough how awesome this place is!
We went everywhere in downtown Charleston, and the nice people at "JPub" totally saved our night. Great Music, great crowd, and we all had the best time. Thank you!!
Hands down my fav place in all of downtown Charleston!
The beers were plentiful and cold. The staff were pleasant and very attentive! The food was very good, but it did take a while to be served. Hey, we were really too busy unwinding after a hectic work week to notice! We can't wait to go back this Friday!
Posted on the VT Myspace page (myspace.com/villagetavern) this week:
"Hey guys. The Village Tavern has been temporarily CLOSED. We are in the process of getting new ownership with an owner that actually gives a shit. If you had a show that was booked, Trey will be contacting you via e-mail. We hated that this happened all of the sudden as the employees were shocked as well. We also have about ten people that are out of jobs now because of someones actions. Hopefully someone will take it over and bring it back to all of its glory that once was. We apologize to all bands that had shows booked and genuinely hope that we can do business in the future. Say a little prayer for the employees and hope they can find work soon."
My husband and I really enjoy going to Fosters. The food is excellent, beer selection is different (and you can get a sampler of 4! ) and the staff is casual and friendly. It's a great neighorhood hangout, way better than Dog and Duck!! See you wednesday for team trivia!
I would definitely recommend Fosters Pub, the food is great, the beer is better, and I just like supporting folks like Craig. Unfortunately I haven't been in a while but I will definitely be back soon. Several of the times that I have been to Fosters Pub Craig has been walking around talking to the patrons. He doesn't do the normal bs either, it's actual talk about our experience and what can be improved.
Craig, keep on doing what you're doing and I'll be seeing you soon!
Craig – I don’t know you, nor have I had the opportunity to visit your establishment yet. However, your post below is outstanding. I know it’s hard to sit back and read of poor or mediocre experiences at your place and not respond. I tend to think of it like this. Rarely do we comment on good experiences. We tend to expect them. It’s seems like we zero in on those experiences that break our expectations great or poor. Let’s face it, when’s the last time you called the power company to thank them for keeping the power on?
Anyway, you have one a customer. I’ll be seeing you soon!
I will get Craigs back on the craft beer issue. I work for one of the local distributors and understand the frustrations of craft beer supply and demand. Most of these quality craft beers are made in small batches. And in some cases it's just a transport issue. 99% of the time it's because whomever is distributing a particular craft is out of stock. A large percentage of that is either the brewery not keeping up with demand or transport issues! It's not the restaurant/bars fault!
just a note to anyone reading these reviews, i apologize for any inconvenience, and I would love the chance to make it up to you. But, i do have to defend a few things, I pride myself on my selection of craft beers. If we are ever out of stock on a specific brew, it is because distributors are not able to keep stock in every item all the time. In which case, I can order but not receive products, much like any other store in the world. It just happens, but i always have similar or other options. As far as our fish and chips, there was no excuse to take that much time to inform you of an issue. If you would care to come back and try it, i will gladly pay for it. On Sunday evenings from 5-8 p.m. we do offer a shag party with a live DJ. this is an attempt to reach a different and older demographic during a time period in which the younger crowd usually is not in a local pub. Shag night has been very successful and will continue to football season. Please feel free to come by and see me, Craig Foster, and voice any concerns. I will do my best, as I have and will continue to, make sure each and every customer has a great experience every time they visit Foster's Pub
Wow, Wish I could post (zero) stars! What a waste of time. I was told when they opened the food was great, and the craft selection was huge. I could not get in till now and I am sorry to say I wish I never had. I am not sure what has changed from then till now, but the dinner that I and four friends had was sub standard at best. The service was lacking. The best craft's were out of stock. Please don't waste your time, money, or taste buds as we did.
here is a video to demonstrate how they do it at the Mill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBXyB7niEc0…
We stopped in Saturday night for dinner and a few drinks. I agree the drinks were pricey, even for the high quality choices. I had the pork slap and it was very good as was the interesting pickle slaw that I had with it. The duck pot pie was good, but tasted more of mushroom than duck. It was a pleasant experience overall, but not what I would call outstanding.
Visited on a Friday afternoon about 6pm (early dinner). We had the Pork Slap and fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. The chicken was fried really "lightly" and not greasy at all. I had the green beans as a side with mine and didnt want to share any of them!! Had a couple of the Abita beers that they were promoting where all $$ from the sales of those went to Gulf coast clean up. The Andygator was yummy! Very friendly and knowledgeable waiter...i think his name was Andrew (?) He made suggestions and let me sample of couple of beers to make up my mind what to order. Most of the sandwiches are about $9, so not too pricey. Yes, the craft beers may be pricier than the PBR or Miller Lite you can get elsewhere, but you know, here you get what you pay for....!!
Hello , My name is Adorable Robbie from the Mill.I love to cook and sing.I would like for you to watch my video on You tube ...............................http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ysqh1uzqGrc .I am sure you will like it .Thank you , love Adorable Robbie

Argh,Old Blackbeard here to talk about me favorite subject.....Certain types of manure used to be transported (as everything was back then) by ship. In dry form it weighs a lot less, but once water (at sea) hit it. It not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by-product is methane gas.
As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen; methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern. BOOOOM!
Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was discovered what was happening.
After that, the bundles of manure where always stamped with the term "S.H.I.T" on them which meant to the sailors to "Ship High In Transit." In other words, high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane. You can fill me tip jar to show thanks for the info.
That's right southernchick80 you tell them.
I think that if you are mad that you were kicked out you need to put on your big girl panties and stop complaining and flat out making up immature lies. #1 Wally would never allow drugs to float around in his bar (HIS BUSINESS) #2 All the bartendera watch out for the other patrons and the bar to make sure no drunk idiot is going to cause a fight or get in the car and kill someone on the way home. I find it very funny that we have so many immature idiots out there who cannot handle themselves and when called out reduce themselves to getting online and bad mouthing a place that is freaking awesome. Hope you have a wonderful day and can one day grow up!
Re: “Johnson's Pub & Pizzeria”
Out of everywhere I went on my vacation to Charleston, Johnson's was my favorite. We had so much fun there, and the music and atmosphere was perfect. I recommend checking it out.
