Re: “Best Candidate Whose Brother is a Superstar Comedian

Oh, hey. Her positions are up now. http://colbertbuschforcongress.com/issues/

And I'm totally taking credit for that until they deny that it was because of my column.

And even then, I'm taking credit for it.

Re: “Best Protest Flag

It took me eight months to figure out what that flag represented, but I did it all on my own.

Re: “Best Political Surprise

That fucker's ghostwriter writes for this joint, too.

He's a helmet as well. He's really going down with the Tea Party Ship.

Sucks to be wrong.

Which brings me to this point: if the Hell that Jim DeMint purports to believe in exists, then I hope he burns in it.

Re: “Best Future Congressman

yes too many jerks are Limboss wannabees, feeling totally entitled to unlimited sex or blaming women "objects" for saying no to their demands... this is the verbal facade to rapists, battering domestic "partners" and those who'd force a woman to stay pregnant with such jerk progeny

Re: “Best Future Congressman

What a pick -- right in the middle of the Limbaugh blow-up. I suppose he'd fit right in with all the GOP pols who preach purity and get caught with their pants down.

Re: “Best Charlestonian to Defriend

Editor alert: Correct usage in this case is "Have you ever swum...."

I agree with bill e. Grampa Joe may be getting on in years, but until a viable candidate can step forward who has a reasonable chance of accomplishing even a quarter of what Mayor Riley has for this city, I'm sticking with him.

Re: “Best Charlestonian to Defriend

maybe about time to let someone else try their hand at being mayor. it would be nice to see what just one other mayor would do, since he's been in what, 34 or so years?
however in the last 15 years, there as been a radical improvement to the downtown area, places i can go without immediate threat to my well-being, so i guess he can't be all bad.

I'm open to any evidence to the contrary.

Re: “Best Sore Loser Since Ted Knight in Caddyshack

Dan Davis has done a great job for Berkeley County and it showed in the election results.

Agreed. Give Bill a key.

Re: “Best Greenie

I guess you'd need to define "good" political fights. Their tactics have something to be desired.

The SCCCL started off as a good organiczation but has, over the years, created a bureaucracy in their organization that requires creating crisis after crisis to keep funded.

Re: “Best Local Cause

Good organization. Liked the window painting they did a few years back.

Re: “Best Charlestonian to Defriend

I just wish that Riley would put Planning Director Tim Keane ns a leaky rowboat during the crosstown flooding. Keane and his band of we-will-grant-a-variance for anything planners have ruined life in the city.

Last time I looked at state law, variances for parking, height and setbacks required proving a "hardship" existed. Since the BZA doesn't care about state law, this doesn't apply to Charleston.

Re: “Best Philanthropist

Mrs. Zucker is the best of the best. Excellent choice, Charleston.

Re: “Best City Council Member

If you are not a bicyclist or live near his house on the peninsula, he won't return your phone calls or emails.

I would never have voted for him if I had known that he is so easily swayed by bike advocates and the downtown crowd. He is also a master at telling people on both sides of an issue that he supports their side. One to watch, for sure, but not because he is the best council member.
