Sounds like someone has issues.......
I just saw this film on the documentary channel in Canada. The photograph in the above article is incorrectly labelled. Jeremy is pictured with his wife not his mother.
ok. wow. thats a pretty bad review.
i dont see any resemblances to the wizard of oz as the girl in the fall isnt dreaming and the black and white only accompies the opening titles when in the wizard of oz the first about 20 minutes are in sepia.
also none of the characters have any similarities at all. after reading your review i feel like you didnt understand one of the films.
and what about that "If she'll pilfer some morphine from the hospital pharmacy to put him out of his misery, he'll reward her with a violence-filled story to keep her on the edge of his bed."-thing? she doesnt know what shes doing, hes obviously depressed and later regrets using her. plus the story gets violent after she fell the second time and it doesnt say anywhere that this is a childrens film so if you cant handle seeing fictional character dying, dont go to the cinema.
oh, and your hint about roy being a pedophile is just stupid.
fuck the French Film Festival!
Saw the movie last night and it was excellent, as well as, depressing. Whether you are a Tea Party member, a union supporter, pro healthcare coverage for all, or just an American citizen, this movie follows the history of how and why it all goes wrong. From bailouts to civil liberties to the Second Bill of Rights. Capitalism was never proclaimed nor was it an edict within our Constitution.
I love Moore's approach, he seems to befuddle his way into issues, when it's anything but that, because it's poignant, calculated and decisive. These companies are destroying the middle class, taking away freedoms and the American Dream seems to be dead. Micheal Moore addresses all those issues, but then shows the positive side with people, Americans, who are making a difference.
This movie deserves to be seen... it's a lot funnier than the recent slate of gross-out comedies, or crass man-fests. It also has a lot more heart than a lot of the movies designed to jerk tears from your eyes. It owes a lot of that heart to Marisa Tomei, it's easy to look at the two unorthodox looking gentlemen in the film and applaud their performances but without her it would all be for naught. I might be a little biased as I can watch her do anything and be mesmerized. I think I've watched this video of her hula hooping in her living room about 230 times:
Enjoy! And go see Cyrus!
Don't worry about the review....I've seen Pelada several times and continue to turn my friends onto it. Everyone who has seen it is blown away by it. You're going to love this beautiful movie. Go and take your friends!
Luke & Gwendolyn are the vehicle through which the filmmakers were able to tell the stories of all the various pick-up players all over the world. Without a story line around them, the film would have been more of a 'highlight reel' than a documentary. See the film - its a remarkably inspired piece of work!
I surely hope you are wrong about the movie focusing on the young couple too much. The footage in this trailer is great and the general vibe is fantastic. I hope to get to see the final movie soon.
1 week only!
this film is great --dont miss it!
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is another good one. In fact, that whole vengeance trilogy by Park Chan-wook is a must-see.
Too many words. You could have just kept it to the last 2 sentences.
Just ignore it, and it'll go away.
You had me at "rectum to mouth, rectum to mouth, rectum to mouth"....
OK I saw the OnDemand trailer last night, and I'm just going to have to watch this movie.
Also, the reviewer neglected to note that this is actually Human Centipede: First Sequence....the first of a planned trilogy....
GREAT REVIEWS ON THIS FILM
Playing exclusively on at Terrace JAMES ISLAND!
Sounds pretty groundbreaking to me for what it is -- a plotless, or largely predictable, movie meant only to push the boundaries of "body horror," which sounds pretty neat all by itself. If it looks as good as this article suggests, the SFX crew should be getting some awesome work soon.
My gruesome curiosity and the fact that it lives in my cable box means I'm sure to watch it soon.
honestly!!! who would pay to produce or even watch this!! I know people like creepy gory things (Saw, Hostel...etc) but this completely takes it to a whole different level! how disgusting!
