And now a public service announcement from the friendly folks of the Alliance For Full Acceptance

Thursday - September 20:

Don't Miss a Conversation with David Brock

Meet the founder of Media Matters For America

Tired of the noise? Meet the founder of Media Matters For America as AFFA hosts David Brock at the Charleston Marriott.

MMFA is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

Brock is the author of four political books, including "The Republican Noise Machine: Right-Wing Media and How It Corrupts Democracy.' His preceding book, "Blinded by the Right: The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative," was a 2002 New York Times best-selling political memoir in which he chronicled his years as a conservative media insider. Remember Brock? He was featured prominently in 1994 on The New York Times Magazine cover about being young and conservative, well maybe not as prominently as that leopard-print-mini-skirt-sportin' leggy bile-spewing blonde Laura Ingraham. Meeeeeeeow!

Brock serves on the advisory board of Democracy Radio Inc. and is the recipient of the New Democrat Network's first award for political entrepreneurship.

David Brock is a douche bag. Though I am not a Republican and most of the right-wing talking heads make me want to pull an Owen Wilson, I despise Brock with a burning passion. For one thing, he helps conservative talkers more than he hurts them. Before Media Matters started featuring Neil Boortz on their site, he was a virtual unknown to anyone outside of Atlanta. However, thanks to MM, he is now huge and just became syndicated in Washington, which has always been a dead zone for talk radio. He constantly thanks MM for the unsolicited publicity and is sincere in his own smarmy way. I've also found that MM tries to smear anyone who gives an opinion that is not in line with their agenda. They attack people like Chris Matthews who I'm sure would never be on any Republican's list of people they want to have a drink with. Hell, they even go after the wildly liberal New York Times. In fact, if you peruse their website with any regularity you will begin to see that the only person they consider to be intelligent in this world is Keith Olberman. And as any rational person knows, Olberman is a smug jerk-off who also relies on smear attacks to gain notoriety (see his daily "Worst Person in the World" segment). While many of you might think that Brock is being impartial by targeting traditionally left-wing media sources, many of you are also dumb. What Brock is doing is attempting to censor all voices that don't sound like his. Is he a fascist? I doubt it, but he certainly wouldn't mind incorporating socialist agendas such as bringing back the "fairness" doctrine as a way to silence conservative talk radio. As I said before, I have no love for right-wing talk radio or cable shows. The self-importance and hypocrisy of people like Sean Hannity makes me absolutely nauseous. However, Brock and the like are being disingenuous by creating a professional looking website replete with propaganda and disguising it as a helpful non-profit dedicated to helping the people of the U.S. Give me a break! Brock's tactics are childish and pathetic and if you attend his brainwashing seminar you should let him know this.
